Moto gp - Jerez
Discussion
Rossi again complaining of no rear grip and has done for years. Languishing at that end of the timesheets might suggest his retirement beckons. He also seems to be getting a lot of (deserved) backlash for corporately getting into bed with Saudi Aramco.
If Bagnaia can make the Ducati fast over race distance here then he will be some threat throughout the season. Jerez has nothing that plays to the strengths of the bike and highlights many of its weaknesses.
Aleix on the Aprilia also looks fast on used tyres. Think it will be a Yamaha win though.

If it carries on like this I cannot see him seeing out the season, Yamaha are NOT going to make any effort to change the bike, and they probably cant with the rules anyway.
it is clear his style does not suit the bike and has not for some time.
I do feel he can still offer speed, but at the moment it is beyond embarrassing really

If anyone can explain how Acosta can do that please let us know below.
Do we think he will skip moto2 and end up on a factory GP bike.I know Jack Miller skipped Moto2, but he was 20 or 21 when he jumped on the big bike.
Acosta is some talent. Great to see.

Rossi has had a good innings and as a Rossi fan I will be sad to see him go. But it’s time now. He cannot make the bike work as much the same as last years bike ,and the one before that. And the one before that come to think of it. He’s had an outstanding career, but to see him languishing now as he does week in and week out at the tail end is not where we want to remember him.

I think all us oldies feel the same yet still wish him luck, 4 years ago I still had hope. Fair play, a legend along with a few others. 23 riders in moto gp this year, there's still a lot of riders behind Rossi that just make up the numbers like in any motorsport. There's not many human beings that can actually ride these bikes at this level and at this pace so i guess there all legends in there own small world, its just that Rossi's world is bigger than the rests .
12 years since his last title, 4 years since his last win (1 win in 2017), 15th with 66 points in 2020 just over half the points of his lowest previous year in 1996 when he scored 111, his first ever GP season in 125s.
And if Hodgson is right there will be two seats out of the four at Yamaha available next year. Morbidelli to replace Vinales and one spare at Petronas.

With Regard to Vr, I guess have to stand by my much earlier post this year....
"Lets wait till we get to Jerez......."
Its not pretty and actually must be very tough for him.
Im now starting to from the opinion that he cant ride the way the current bikes demand.
If you watch him on the bike, he is nowhere near as dramatic as the current young and fast guys......

I love Rossi but it's a bit embarrassing now.And if Hodgson is right there will be two seats out of the four at Yamaha available next year. Morbidelli to replace Vinales and one spare at Petronas.
Hope that's true for morbidelli as him being on the last year bike is an embarassment too - I mean highest placed yam last year? They trying to win at this or make up numbers?

Jake D to Moto GP in the Petronas team if he string some results together this season, leaving a Moto2 ride for John McF if he can get to be consistent.Gassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
