London bombing and Police "Intelligence"

On BBC Ten o'clock news last night and in the press (extract from The Times website):
"Police found a bomb factory in Leeds containing a “viable amount of explosives”. Explosives were also recovered from a car left parked near Luton station.

<The raids came after the discovery of driving licences and credit cards at the scenes of the explosions,>

and a telephone call from the mother of Hasib Hussain, who asked police to try to trace her son."

It appears that the terrorist's didn't find it too tricky to carry out the attack. Why on earth would the Police make their job more difficult next time around by disclosing that they found documents at the scenes of the explosions?

Next time the terrorists will go in clean and there will be even less chance of following up leads to make further arrests / discoveries.

Or am I missing something?

If the bomber wishes to blow himself or herself up then why worry about leaving clues as ones identity!

I was thinking the exact same thing this morning, everything seems to have slotted into place too easily. For all we know, these for men could have been used as an 'investigation-diversion' for the main bombers, who are still at large and the police are now on a wild goose chase.

Didn't they drive to Luton train station from Yorkshire in a hired car? Wouldn't they need driving licenses, ID etc to hire the car therefore?

Exactly. The Police are extremely careful on the information which they release (esp when we are talking about the AT branch) as you know....

I though this as well - and I'm sure that quite a few ID's were found at the various scenes, so how did the police know that some of them happened to belong to the bombers?

Ah! Now I understand why we all have to have ID Cards.....so they know which ones of us are terrorists AFTER the event, silly me I thought the point of the ID Cards was if you DIDN'T have one you were a terrorist.
