M5 Competition LCI - who's done an exhaust upgrade ?
Discussion
Hi All,
1 month into owning this amazing car, I'm in desperate need for a louder exhaust note. Spoke with Litchfields yesterday and they now have an exhaust option to deal with the OPF which doesnt require any tuning of the car (so warranty should be ok)...the Akrapovic "slip-on" solution - I'm sure it would sound amazing - trying to find out if anyone in this group has been able to do this mod - would be great to hear your experience / sounds.
Thanks
Prashan
These are the Akrapovic parts:
S-BM/T/7H F90 BMW M5 Slip-On Line +OPF
TP-CT/47/RS Tail Pipe Set Carbon BMW M5 (F90)

I've also been having a little look at possible routes to exploit the V8 noise & an Akra seems the best (albeit most expensive) route.1 month into owning this amazing car, I'm in desperate need for a louder exhaust note. Note as a result of digging i found possibly the cheapest route to a new one, that being from BaanVelgen in The Netherlands.
Their list price is a good chunk lower than suppliers in the UK, but add on the fact they'll take a further 10% off for a deal made them quite a bit cheaper (but still an expensive solution).

Thanks for the reply...good to see like minds are at this :-)Note as a result of digging i found possibly the cheapest route to a new one, that being from BaanVelgen in The Netherlands.

Also heard from my supplying dealer in Hull that there is a potential AC Schnitzer option at the following prices - digging a bit more into this - not clear if its a rear box or simply cosmetic exhaust tips...this wouldn't impact the warranty.
• Chrome tail pipe trims £3,420
• Black tail pipe trims £3,630
• Carbon tail pipe trims £4,060
All these prices are including VAT and fitted.

Hi, just checking to see if you did get the exhaust done? and did it have any improvement in sound? (pop & bang)
i'm on the same boat with the same car. please let me know, thanks
Pops and Bangs are software, so no change on that front, noise is now the enemy like speeding Plod have sound monitors just for this purpose , sad days. i'm on the same boat with the same car. please let me know, thanks

Sorry for the late reply - I chickened out....especially after speaking with a contact at BMW UK HQ....the whole warranty issue put me off....what I'm doing now is warming the car up, maxing the settings to Sport +, etc and getting a slightly louder noise but still no pops and bangs..... may have to buy a classic Subaru or Evo to plug the gap !!i'm on the same boat with the same car. please let me know, thanks
I seem to get noticed in the local neighbourhood though when I start the car in the morning - I'm sure same with you all too !!..

I have a non LCI, non Competition, non OPF but with the M Sport exhaust and even after the software update it is still gloriously loud - I believe it is mainly the OPF that has subdued the F90 M5. So unless the aftermarket solutions entail an OPF delete, I am not sure it will change the sound significantly.

Very jealous - hope you're enjoying the carBoosted_8 said:
One of the biggest factors with the sound besides the OPF is the exhaust manifold grouping on the f90. Its different to the traditional approach. Two ports to each bank per manifold rather than a row of four.
Do any of the aftermarket solutions change the manifold setup?rassi said:

My M5C sounded awesome, used to rock the car when rev'd standing still. It was a pre LCI car though so did they get quieter with the face lift?TX.
