I did my first good length ride in a few years at the weekend. I had forgotten the faff involved with paying for fuel etc.

I was thinking of getting a wrist band that I can put a credit card in for contactless payments, rather than

Gloves off, Get wallet, pay. Put everything back, forget something then repeat etc.

How do you avoid this sort of faffery?

I have my phone on a quad lock mount & use google pay. Still a faff but it's massively easier. If I don't have my phone mounted I've started using a card wallet rather than a traditional wallet which makes life a bit easier. Still got to take gloves off but I tend to do that anyway unless it's guy cold.

Don't pay. After filling up, nail the throttle and leg it out of the garage on the back wheel* silly

* It's what my IAM Observer taught me, m'lud.

I keep my fuel paying card in my jacket pocket. fuel up, glove off while walking to pay... pay.

Or even better.. pay at the pump.

If you have a smart watch, you can use those to pay contactless.

Alternatively, these days you can get an NFC chip implanted under the skin in your hand. I probably wouldn't recommend this, also it might not work anyway if you wear decent gloves...

I have a Monzo card that I keep in my jacket specifically for expenses while I'm out on the bike, keep it in an outside pocket and it works fine.

Otherwise I'm a constant faffer! Worst one is gloves on before helmet, got to come off again as I'm too ham-fisted to manage to do my lid with gloves.

Either pay at pump with credit card, or pay at pump with phone app.

Unless I’m in continental Europe, where they actually have customer convenience things like toilets. Then I go inside and pay.

I wonder if you can get a jacket with a card pocket in the sleeve. Seems to be the ideal solution.

The whole gloves before helmet thing is just Grrr.!

If I know that I'll need fuel on that trip I'll put my card in my jacket pocket. One glove off is all that's needed.

In summer gloves I just get my card wallet out of a zipped outer jacket pocket...that's it. Only in colder weather with thick gloves on I need to take them off.

Never been asked to take my helmet off. I do wear a Shark Evo most of the time and flip the front.

I have seen jackets over the years with small coin/card pockets in the sleeve. If you wear leathers no doubt you could get one sewn in.

The only step different to the car is taking the gloves off. Don't see it as much of a problem.

Also, they have food you might actually want to eat, rather than something simply to provide calorific input to keep you going. The Autogrill chain are superb, but run some here too which serve the same old crap.

The most useful thing on a motorcycle ever is a bar bag, Especially on tours. Toll gates, toll tickets, cards and all.

This, but without taking a glove or anything else off. Why are you lot doing that?

This. My Klim jacket has a credit card pocket on the sleeve. With this and pay at the pump, no need for faffing.

It is a pain that the pumps don't do contactless.

How do the petrol company apps work?
QR codes on the pump?
Set a side button on your phone to open the camera and you're good if that's the case.

Location services on the phone, so it knows which fuel station you are at. Then select pump number on the app. It would be easy to select the wrong pump number any pay for someone else’s fuel if you aren’t careful.

That'd be an expensive mistake, pick a pump with a range rover and end up paying 100 quid instead of 15!

Globes off is hardly a faff, I don't mind the stretch after peeling myself off the bike. I've never taken my helmet off to go in and pay.
