Finally collected my s2 111s today from Storm of Leicester.
This is my first Lotus, my last car was a TT225C, and initial impressions are fantastic!!!
The car was very well prepared, the radio works (after experimenting with the settings), the ride is very well damped (unlike some cars I have experienced), but there is alot of gearbox whine when comming of the gas.
Can't wait to get the car run-in and start doing some track-days.
Where's the best place to look for forth-comming track-days?

Make sure when you get your car serviced that you don't admit to going on any track days.

Have heard several stories of Lotus dealers trying to back out of waranty work after owners have admitted to using their cars on track.

Enjoy

Ballistic on a note about servicing. Make sure you go over what they have done. I also bought my car from them and changed servicing garage after some very poor work. This was quite some time ago and they may have shaken up their ideas since then, but I only thought it fair to warn you.

Don't own a Lotus anymore I set up my own business and the Lotus was simply too expensive. I'm sure some other people on this forum can recommend others. I've heard rumours on this and other forums that Storm have improved but I thought it was worth mentioning. (NB contact me privately if you want more information)

I've also swapped away from Storm who supplied my S2. I now use Orchard in Northampton.

To be fair the work they did on the car was OK. I chatted to the engineer who worked on my car and he seemed to take pride in what he was doing and was pretty knowledgable. Their workship is a complete sty though - not what you expect from a Lotus dealer. Filthly with bits and pieces all over the place.

The final staw was the attitude of the customer facing staff. I thought they were very rude on more than one occasion. Not at all acceptable when you've spent £25K with them.

PS - gearbox whine is the norm with S2's. I think the road and wind noise has reduced so much from the S1 that the gearbox whine is more apparent.

Yes Storm have been taken over by Bramall's.
I agree the inside of Storm's workshop looks like a tip, doesn't inspire much confidence.
I still haven't decided where to go for servicing.
Everyone seems to have had a bad experience with a main dealer yet I guess I have to use one for the warranty.

So far Orchard have been good.

On a couple of occasions I had to prompt them that new parts were available under warranty (like the revised door pins), but they have been happy to contact Lotus about anything they are unsure about. It wont take long for their experience to get to a comparable level with other dealers and at the moment they seem very keen (which makes a nice change).

The only downsides have been than on the occasions my car has been with them I've dropped it off clean and it's been returned with noticeable finger marks on the doors, windows and on the alcantara on the steering wheel. Nothing that wouldn't clean off, but a bit careless. Mind you, if nothing else it proves they actually did work on the car!

They also gave me a free Lotus tie pin with some matts I ordered ... a small gesture but it made me smile :-)

They are also a lot closer to home for me than Storm so it's no contest as far as I'm concerned.
