When leaving the vehicle and pressing the key fob to alarm the car I understand that you should allow 10 seconds before doing this as otherwise the alarm beeps 4 times and the lights flash 4 times which means the car is immobilised but not alarmed. I also believe that if you allow the 10 second gap then the lights will flash twice to signify it's both immobilised and alarmed but won't beep.

Is that correct? If not does anyone have the list of what the car is telling you with all of these variations of flashes and beeps?

Thanks.

Many thanks as you have just solved a mystery. I always wondered why it sometimes bleeps when locking it and other times in doesn’t. I have just tried this twice and that does seem to be the case. I have only had the car for eleven years so it does take time to learn everything! Another thing I don’t understand is I once hit a pothole which triggered the inertia switch and since then when I press the fob button to prime the fuel pump with the ignition on sometimes it works OK and other times I have to lock the car from inside and unlock it again before the pump will prime. Can any other car be as much fun as a TVR?

Seems to beep only if armed soon after closing the door so I concluded it beeped only while the courtesy light timer was still counting down. Just a guess

Owner's manual says arming by pressing and holding fob key for longer duration arms without internal motion sensor

It is the interior light which I think makes the meta think a door is still open, which is why it beeps. If you do it as soon as the light goes off it shouldn't beep.

I used to use my car as my daily and so figured out how to avoid the beeps when getting home late from work, although the engine had probably woken everyone up already!

I 'phoned Dave at HF Solutions http://www.hf-solutions.co.uk/.

He advised that the 4 beeps after getting out and arming alarm/immobiliser is dependent on the interior light switch delay circuitry.. In typical TVR fashion the light delay can be quite random in its timing.....hence you sometimes get the beeps.

Ultimately, if you wait for a minute or two, you will avoid the beeps from the alarm siren.

So the beeps aren’t telling you that the car isn’t alarmed and that it’s merely immobilised?
