Hi, I recently swapped my Ranger for a TD5 Defender (which seemed like a good idea at the time!) as I had fond memories and also needed to free up a vehicle for work, I do enjoy it but I have a feeling I'd enjoy it more if I didnt use it every day... Also find that being in a noisy harsh motor all week makes me want to avoid my Tuscan at weekends which shares some of the same qualities!

I'm considering something different to use part of the time, I dont want to get rid of the Defender and I don't use the TVR for commuting as its not exactly subtle and turning up for work with ears almost ringing and people staring isn't ideal. After a long day it's not the weapon of choice either, and rain isn't worth contemplating.

I've got a completely odd selection of cars on the wish list in a vague price bracket, I wouldn't mind some input if anyone is willing to share their thoughts! I only tend to drive an hour a day as far as commuting goes, including a couple of bumpy lanes. Ultimately I'm trying to find something fairly refined, interesting and a tad different.

Obviously I'm happy with used vehicles, I always look at depreciation too as happier knowing I'm not losing thousands every year, makes it easier to justify buying more cars!

• Aston V8 Vantage (still think they are one of the best looking cars ever made, shame there are so many. Considering holding out to find a V12 which may make a better investment too)

• Porsche 996 turbo (have thought this would make a good step up from the Tuscan for a while, probably faster in the real world and much more refined)

• Mustang 5.0 GT (3-4 year old model, look nice, not too flash and they seem to be pretty good as far as depreciation goes with newer vehicles)

• Tesla Model S (I haven't done much research at all, thought it may be worth considering electric for my miles and they are good looking)

• New Defender/Discovery (I like both, not sure I could live with the depreciation though (at least of a new disco) and Defender costs are still high)

Very random mix but wouldn't mind opinions/suggestions, it's something I'll be contemplating over the next few weeks/months.

Cheers, TC

I’d keep the Tuscan and get something a bit more refined for commuting but still fun and different enough.
Ghibli V6S, Guilia QV, Jaguar XFR, Panamera, Rapide

The Tuscan is going to stay until I get something that blows it away in every aspect, it will be hard in the looks and sounds department!

Good shout on the Lexus and Lotus, until I looked at the specs I didn't know the Lexus was that much of a performer. I thought the Evora was a great looking car when it came out, fancied one in matt white, but not really noticed them since. I had considered a Maserati GranTurismo as it's great looking but some reviews state it is a little low on torque for such a heavy car, perhaps the Ghibli is a different story.
