Decided it’s time to replace the S4 Avant but not quite sure what to get, part of me wants to get something practical like a 2014 Mercedes E63 AMG Estate or a 2014 Audi S6 Avant, unfortunately the BMW M5 Estate within my budget will be an E61 which are a little old.
Any one been in a similar scenario, what did you choose?
Budget is around 25-27k ish, alternatively I get something like a Maserati Gran Tourismo and then spend whatever change I have left on a shed to fit the car seats, got a 6 year old and a 2 year old.

I'm thinking of replacing our 2012 S4 Avant before it goes over 100,000 and have been looking around. Any one been in a similar scenario, what did you choose?

My reasoning is that we'd want a car, not a SUV.
Possibly an estate, but could go for a hatchback as we don't need an estate.
Has to be petrol and auto and four door as its a PITA if there's more than two of us and back seat passengers have to clamber in and out.
Needs to have a bit of go
I've also decided that I fancy a change, so not another Audi, or a Golf R.
So the best I've come up with so far is a Merc A35 preferably with the Premium pack, but without the spoiler/splitter body pack
Similar budget, also two young children, Megane R.S Trophy.
A bit earlier in the depreciation curve than the cars you are mentioning though, and a bit more compromised as a daily.
An early M2 would be in budget and is perfectly usable as a family car if they don't mind climbing in the back!

The E53 is a very good option a nice mix of pace & practicality:

But in all honesty get the GranTurismo (make sure it' the 4.7) which is a cracking option:

Then get something like an E350:
