Hi.

Sorry if this kind of question always pops up in here. I'm just looking for a new TV. 75" preferably and wondered if anyone could offer any advise.

The Samsung Q60 looks like a good choice but the sales guy in Currys seemed to just say yes to all my questions. ie, does it do 100htz or above (He seemed to think it did) and does it have HDMI2.1 (initially yes then changed his mind).

Part of the reason for changing is that i want to get the best out of the PS% so wanted a higher refresh rate. Might consider a slightly smaller screen if there's a good deal to be had.

Just wanted a bit of advise if anyone has been in a similar position.

The Q60 is just under £1200 at AO.

Thanks. smile

I don't rate the Samsung Q60. IMO its inclusion in the QLED range is a marketing con because the rest of the specs just aren't up to par with what should be a higher-end LCD tech TV.

The panel is 50Hz/60Hz. It's not 100Hz./120Hz. No matter how much the motion processing works beforehand, the TV will never produce any more than 50 or 60 images per second, and that means the clarity of motion is always going to be a compromise compared to native 100/120Hz sets.

It's an edge-lit panel with no local dimming, and the bit depth is only simulated 10bit (8+2 FRC) rather than true 10bit. The motion processing is basic. I'm not even going to bother going through the rest of the specs or try to find figures for input lag or the nit brightness level. The only thing of any substantial value with the set is eARC, and then only if you have an eARC-equipped audio system. The TV doesn't even have Dolby Vision. The rest of the set's feature revolve around its apps which, quite frankly, you can knock in to a cocked hat with a £50 Amazon Fire TV stick.

If you really want the best from your console, then as far as LED TVs are concerned, the Sony XH9505 is where you need to be.

Everything that the Q60 is missing the Sony has: 100/120Hz native panel, true 10bit, full array backlight with local dimming (FALD), better motion processing, Dolby Vision, and really low input lag for gaming. It's not perfect, there's no VRR support; you're going to have to spend a lot more at 75" to get that, but for a set to get the most from your PS5 then this is the sort of spec you should be aiming at. The catch is price. The 65" XH9505 is £1400, and the 75" is £2100.

The 75" KE75XH9005BU is the previous years model and not far off the spec of the 9505. rtings.com and a few other sites have reviews. It's £1500 at RS.

I have the 65" version of this and can vouch for it being superb!

Anything OLED and go for older model to get bang for your buck.
QLED can be good for light rooms where OLED will struggle a little.

Just to follow this up. I bought the Sony that was recommended. It's flipping great.

Works perfectly with the PS5 and the dynamic backlight is a vast improvement over my old Samsung LCD.

Thanks again for your help.
