We don’t see many lorries on this forum,so here’s my 1/24 scale scania that is much modified from a Heller kit, with a semi scratchbuilt trailer, with authentic roping and sheeting!
This is a model of a scania that my father owned,I built it about 12 years ago

That’s a lovely looking model, right down to the authentic looking lorry hitches in the sheet roping. Very nice.

Really sorry about your dad. I’m sure he’ll be pleased you are looking “his” lorry.

Thank you very much.I can assure you that it’s easier to rope and sheet the real thing than doing it in scale!
Sad thing is,this was the only lorry my dad had painted and sign written in 20 odd years of running his own lorries, and we don’t have one single photo of it after it was done lol

My lorry-driving dad got a job with a company where everything was in containers or tautliners. and was happy at never having to rope and sheet a load ever again!

One of my first jobs in the haulage business back in the 60,s was to harp and tie down a flat bed Albion underslung truck ,I had no idea how to do it and the transport manager showed me how it was to be done ,hellish job esp in the rain .it was Mc Neils transport in Pollockshaws Glasgow ,they had the contract to distribute Kellogs corn flakes .Love the model looks great .

I smashed the windscreen of a 111 with my head somewhere on the continent when I was 6, my dad never let me bounce about on the bed after that hehe

I love that!
I’m sure that 111 was in an early edition of Truck magazine

I think you're right. From memory it was the first 111 supplied to the UK. Dad continued with Scania for a while and the fleet was pretty much Scania with a couple of ERFs...until Volvo unleashed the Globetrotter! It was then a mix of 143s and Trotters as they were both superb.

Bit of a difference to the origins...

Dad has a 1:43 (I think) of this one, one of HIS Dad's trucks. Think it was a very limited run corgi that he randomly found online.

Would love to have the skills to hand make a bigger version for him

I saw some Italeri units models for sale in Italy in 2019 , really nice looking as the seller had built up examples too .

I didn't buy any as they were a bit pricey and after Googling the shop , even the ones on Amazon aren't exactly budget priced .

OH MY GOD!!!!

They're the gates to the old depot!

Currently the venue of the O2 Arena, formerly the Milennium Dome.

Used to be a gatehouse/security hut just to the left of picture!

Would you mind if I shared those pics with my Dad? He'd be thrilled!

Another trucker's son here with memories of the older trucks. Great model op, and the beginnings of a great thread I suspect.
