Had a very nice time yesterday PM.
Back home in B road along a very twisty river. A real pleasure.
Recently I was criticizing the brake of the R. I must correct this.
I had the opportunity to overtake 2 cars before a roundabout but did the (small) mistake to stay in 4th gear. I should have go down at least to third. Anyway the 2nd cam came ... finally but the overtake was longer than expected. There was no car on the other way but still a stop for the roundabout and the car was flying quite quickly (didn't look the speedo, :yikes:)
So I started to brake, I mean really BRAKE, the abs started to work for several wheels, I do not remember feeling the classic pumping effect in the pedal but well the noise of the wheel locking on the dry macadam. I believe at least 2 lock-unlocked a few times.
And I stopped just 1 meter before the line to see nobody is coming and push..... 1st gear Yeeeeeeeeeepiiiiiiiiiiiiiiie
These brake are quite different than S1 but I believe it as a plus and no more a pitfall. They did a good job to keep the abs as discret as possible , I would say it is working later than on others cars, just perfectly.

This car is definitely the best toy I ever had...

Had a rathe rspirited run on Sunday and didnt have the ABS on at all.

Still think I am going to swap the pads for the Pagids I took off my old Elise.

Taking teh Exige to VMAX at Bruntingthorpe on Sunday so will give them a hammering there then swap them over.

I really dislike the ABS - cut in last night at a junction and I really felt like I could have stopped quicker without it...

I'm seriously getting on with the car now, loving it's performance and cornering... Once you get into the stride of the VVT engine, it feels just great - perfect setup.

Guess what, I want an Exige now! Not going to happen tho!

Davey Let me know the feeling and improvement.
I would like to improve my car further but it looks like they are not so much options. (ITG, Stage 1 or 2, and then the brakes ??)

EXCEPT THIS... www.bemani.ch

Shot2bits. It was the second time I felt the ABS and I believe this time it helped me, the end of the road before the roundabout was as a S and I doubt I would have be so hard on the brake even with cadanced (?) braking.
The other time it worked the road was uneven and under compression it wolrked also. Can't say if I wopuld have been better, probably had just release the pressure for a while.

So you overtook someone and then performed an emergency stop in front of them? Obviously their brakes were equally good!

Nooooo. The 2 cars I overtook where quite apart and to catch the first one in front I had to push a lot. The difference of speed was probably simple to double (50-100mph). The distance between the car and mine was big and even with normal brake it is easier to stop when travelling slower....

I was coming over a rise on a local dual carrigeway doing "a little" over the speed limit (ahem...) and the laser detector went nuts. Slammed on the brakes and slowed to 60 asap. Bloody good brakes!

The M3 numpty behind me ended up on the central reservation.....

Nothing through the post yet, may have got away with it.

I didnt learn, I am pretty sure he got me while I was driving the Pajero the next day (no laser detector) about a mile further on.

Fingers crossed
