What is going on with car prices?

I'm in the market for a used saloon/estate kind of car and the prices are just eye wateringly expensive it seems at the moment.
2015 Skoda Superb 175000 miles for sale for £5750. Thats a £2000 car max at them miles.
2016 Skoda Superb 1.6 TD 200000 miles £6250 from a private seller! What is he on?
Octavias are all overpriced, as are Passats, Prius are all imported garbage. Might as well forget about Audi and BMW's.
Even Mondeos and Insignias are more expensive than they should be. Its an absolute s
t show for buying a car for under 10k at the moment.
My 08 avensis estate cost me £2000 with 80k miles on 2.5 years ago, I've put 110k miles on it and now I'm in the market for more of a family motorway cruiser the market seems to have gone to st.

t. Chancers trying their luck with covid prices. Quite why they think a used car/bike would be worth more just because there was a slight shortage of toilet paper in supermarkets I don't know.
Plus they are part of the 150k+ miles, just run in, nothing for this engine, drives like new brigade.
I'm looking at bikes at the moment and people are asking £5k for 15 year old bikes that were selling for £5k 10 years ago.

Severe shortage of many used cars at all price levels folks flush with cash lockdown easing better weather increased lead times and price incs for new cars many delays etc dealers will get more ££ by waiting hence price rises and more expected.
If you think prices went ballistic last year see what they will do now towards summer.

Why would anyone pay £6-8k for something with 150,000 to 200,000 miles on it when you can go to a main dealer and get the same approved used car that is newer with 40-60,000 on the clock and comes with a 12 month dealer warranty for £7-9K?62 Plate Skoda Superb, 43,488 miles 2.0 TDI is £7990 from Skoda.
These are just examples, I'm probably going to go approved used. I just can't believe anyone is selling (or buying) the s

That said there's been chancers for as long as the there's been sales.

There are 10 plate insignia 2.0 diesel estates with under 100k miles listed on autotrader for £2750 so will probably sell for £2500 or less.
Not too much different but yes prices are a bit high in general at the moment. You have to consider that new cars are getting more and more expensive with all the latest tech so that’ll have an effect on used prices.

When is peak stupidity due? I'm not using my car, just waiting for time to prep it for sale, so I should probably get on with it.
And when's the crash due so I can jump back in?
Is this just an effect of the market manipulation by the motoring trade?
It appears from my very limited knowledge on this they they are witholding cars from the market to drive prices up.
If fewer people are buying cars at the minute then they'll try and raise prices to balance it out.
