Hello All,
Looking for a bit of advice ref tyres (need both front and rear)

Bike.. Speed Triple R 2017

Type of riding.. Mainly weekend rides in dry but sometime the odd shower with also the odd commute into Central London. Odd track day here and there planned in the novice group (only done one TD so far in 2019)

Current tyre is Michelin Pilot Road 4’s, fantastic tyre in pretty much all conditions. Was looking to possibly get a more “dry” focused road tyre but also the capability to handle wet conditions too (not monsoon conditions though!) best of both worlds really.

What is the general consensus these days of this type of tyre? Do I stick with what I know with the road Pilot Road 4 or 5’s? Or go for something a little more in line with faster road/track like the Michelin Power series or Metzeler Sportec, Pirelli Supercorsa, etc…?

Any thoughts/advice very welcome.

Thanks,

trickywoo

I really liked the Metzler M7RR and the new M9RR is supposed to be better still.

The relatively new but out long enough to maybe a bit cheaper Bridgestone S22 is also a really good tyre.

Also Diablo Rosso 3's are now £200 a pair from £260, I've just fitted a pair to my bike and they are great.

Thanks for the recommendations/feedback, much appreciated.

Tempted with the Michelin Power GP’s or the Metzeler M9RR’s. Had Diablo Rosso’s on my Street when I done my first track day in 2019, performed well. These are of course a contender too.

Just a question on the Pilot Road 5’s, any good for the occasional track day? Will they fair well or not recommended at all?

Thanks,

I know of a couple of people who have done track days on Road 5s. If you push hard in the fast group and it's a hot day then probably not the best idea but for a novice then there will be no issues.

I'm a fan of Bridgestone S22's. My normal riding is 1-2 hour dry blasts but I've been caught out in the rain and they held very well.
