Which Audi A4 to buy?

A friend of mine wants to buy an A4

The SE is over £2k cheaper than the S-Line but obviously the S-Line has a better spec. However the only significant difference i can see is heated seats and cruise control.

Am i missing something? is there any other reason for the £2k price difference?

ETA he is absolutely dead set on an A4.

The S-Line you cite has lower mileage which may make a difference.

S-Lines have exterior styling enhancements and tend to have different/larger wheels which your friend could look into to see if it is worth the premium.

Thanks. Hadn't realised about the larger wheels. i think he'd prefer the smaller ones as he favours ride comfort over handling.

I think you are referring to the multitronic box (just Google multitronic faults!) found on the B7 Audi's which had issues.

S line suspension is rock solid. If comforts important go for the SE.

He’s now found a 1.4TFSi Sport. 68 plate lower mileage than the S-Line and has full leather. I think that’s the favourite so far.

I had a manual 1.4T SE from new for 18 months.

The masses of turbo lag meant that it did NOT suit a manual gearbox and even then, the box used was very uninspiring - incredibly vague and not exactly the "driving experience" your friend thinks they want.

Was nice and comfy though - again, characteristics not suited to a manual.

Automatic is the only way to go with these.

Out of those two the Sline has the better seats, virtual cockpit and widscreen nav, of those two i'd go Sline.

Its the same engine as the Golf 1.4TSi isn't it? That' s what he's driving at the moment and he seems happy, although I assume that's a smaller/lighter car.

Yes I'd go with the Digital display but he prefers the softer suspension
