I was speaking with a good friend yesterday and we were talking about Porsche 996s although I said "what about similar value alternatives"? What do you think the Z4M in the link might go for? It looks to be a rare colour & low mileage for its age .....

I just had a look on a database a z4forum member compiled and of the 614 M Roadsters registered in the UK there were 26 in Ruby Black, but only 2 of those had Imola Red interiors, so it's definitely rare!

Ruby Black looks great when it's clean and the sun hits it just right, but most of the time in the UK it just looks black - as I discovered when I had a 3 litre Coupe that colour. frown

Auction prices seem to be a bit random these days, but my best guess would be around £17K.

There's a Sepang Bronze MR on A/T with less than 20K miles for £21.5 just now. The UK only got 9 that colour, but 5 of them had Sepang Bronze interior - so that's relatively common by comparison!

The DVLA think that car is red.

The last time it was up for sale it had a different interior.

There's a lot of swirls on the paint in certain pictures, but the orange peel and dullness of the paint looks severe here.

That would be correct.

Ruby Black despite its name looks more black than red.

Ruby Black when it's clean & freshly buffed, under the correct lighting.

(also shows as red on my V5C, and also been stopped a couple of times by the police to check)

Otherwise it looks black/muddy brown in other lights and when not 100% spotless...

Ropy high milers start from about 10k if you're lucky, mint ones probably closer to late teens.

That is a good colour combo, wish I had imola seats!, but no satnav screen. The satnav is crap, but the screen is beneficial.

Agree, but the built in systems always need updating after a few years - there's loads of f3x users wanting LCI iDrive or screen size upgrades which means new components behind the scenes to make them work.

i just use a TomTom stuck to the piano black dash at mine...and close the screen. The sat-nav is then out of my eye line and I can just listen to directions and/or speed cam warnings if I'm in Wales tongue out

Updates are cheap! But it's the maps/view that's the issue. Such a shame it's not iDrive, or Android based!

There was a fella working on a who new thing to work with the monitor on the Z4 forum but seems to have died a death.

The V5 for my Ruby Black Z4 also showed the colour as Red. I never got stopped, but the previous owner told me he was twice!

OE for that car seems to have been a Phoenix Yellow interior - I can see why someone might want to change that. laugh

The SatNav (which I have) is hopelessly outdated, but you can have the radio on and the screen closed.

I do like the Imola Red interior - which is lucky because that is what mine has!
