Always liked the atkins diet... it basically takes a fat bastards daily intake of grease and flesh... takes out the good bits (pasta, bread and veg) and takes away the beer...
You still die of a Heart/Kidney/Liver Failure.
Exercise and sensible fat control are all you need to lose weight.
But if you really must try again... I'll have your beer

The Atkins diet is the biggest load of b
ks to ever come out of an industry (i.e. the diet industry) famed for being full of crap. The only weight anyone mistaken enough to follow it loses is water, as carbohydrate molecules bond two molecules of water to each of them, so purge your body of carbohydrate and hey presto...you lose a load of water, which people look at the scales and believe is fat. Avoid it like the plague.

You see... I dont think I mentioned that I did this before. I lost 4 stone in 4 months, felt great and weened off the atkins diet afterwards with absolutly no ill effects. In fact about 6 months afterwards when I had a hernia operation and had to get checked out for the premed etc, they said everything was fine and I was in very good health for my age.
I am afraid to say sir, that you are very very misinformed. The diet DOES work but only if you follow it properly and for more than a month.
Afraid we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one. Congratulations on your previous experiences, but AFAIC you must be one of the exceptions. I am actually very well informed, and I think you'll find the majority of medical opinion is not in favour of the Atkins; the fact you are having to 'go back on it' says an awful lot; it is not a healthy or sustainable (long term) eating plan. Good luck whatever you choose to do though!

No, I am going back on it because I have lived like a pig for the last month as I have been on holiday and attending many celebrations. I know a whole host of people that have gone on it and I can only think of one that had problems (the carb withdrawl stage - got really depressed and gave up with the diet). All the rest have lost weight quickly and been healthy on it.
I am not having a go at you - if you are as well informed as you say you are then I want to know about it because the only experiences I have had / seen / heard of from people that have done it properly are good ones.
Obviously its not a good long term thing, I wouldnt do it for more than 9 months tops but there again I shouldnt need too...

I know a few people who have done Atkins and lost a lot of weight, but they said after a week the began to crave fruit and Veg and especially bread.
Got friend in the medical profession so asked her about it earlier. Her reply was "Yes it works, yes it is dangerous if followed for long periods of time, but the main problem is, as soon as you come off it, the weight just piles back on." No idea if this is gospel truth or just the medical profession frowning on 'unhealthy' eating.

Why Diets don't work:
Our bodies haven't significantly evolved in the last ten thousand years and are still running on Africa time. There was a natural boom and bust cycle to the amount of food available. Over time this meant that when a body was faced with a calorific shortfall (famine then, diet now) it would tell itself to prepare for a possible recurrence during times of plenty. This is why people so often gain weight rapidly after coming off a diet and sometime put on more than they lost. It's the body's way of preparing for the next famine. By dieting you're telling your body to store extra fat when you give it a chance to do so.
Taking carbs out of your diet is a mistake in the long term. Carbohydrates are the body's best raw material for creating glycogen, the body's fuel. Doing without such an essential physiological building block is like saying you can do without vitamin C in the long term (ever seen anyone with scurvy?).
The only diet that works:
Calories in > Calories Out = Gain Weight
Calories Out > Calories In = Lose Weight
