Alternatives to Zwift
Discussion
I run Zwift on Android 8 on a Huwaei Mediapad T5, 4 gig free storage and a 64 gig card installed. 2 gig ram.
Its slow and jerky as f
k.
I raised with Zwift and the Zwift community and both said the tablet was likely not powerful enough.
There is an option of reducing in-game detail but that option is not there in the Tablet version.
Now the app just stops randomly. Had enough really, am cancelling my Zwift membership
Are there any alternatives to Zwift that arent as graphically intensive? Even something without a 'virtual world' woudl do - im new to Turbo Trainers and its really frustrating having to stop start with Zwift issues. I dont want to upgrade the tablet at this point.
Thansk.

Trainerroad works fine on my old iPhone 5s. Just training plans, sessions and stats no graphics just a blue power graph.
They’re doing some interesting stuff with machine learning at the moment to build custom training plans based on your performance history.
I run trainerroad in my phone and watch iplayer or Netflix on a tablet or listen to music.
It works for me, having said that I’m on a legacy £75/year subscription, I’m not sure I would sign up at current prices. Think it’s pretty comparable to other apps though. Their podcast is interesting too and worth a listen for general training insights even if you’re not a subscriber.
If you want to try a free month drop me a pm with your email address.

Hey mate cheers for that. Just tried a 25 minute ramp test and have signed up.
So far seems much, much more stable thatn Zwift (No distractinos in it slowing down/ jerking etc) the motiviational messages are good and it seems much more authoriative.
Gonna try it outsdide of the ramp test over the weekend and report back.
Need some cleat shoes! Phat trainers on ickle clip on pedals aint working.

Thread bump, Zwift is pissing me off.
It’s that time of year when I’m finding myself tilting towards indoor riding. A virtual ride a week is about the current run rate and if feels like every time I open Zwift I need to sit and wait for an update.
Then I get logged in and just want to do a zone 2 group ride, no group rides showing on the home screen.
So I start a normal route and cruising along surrounded by every avatar in the game being N.Valid which is rather weird.
Then complete the ride and it s
ts itself saving and doesn’t record.
So are there still only really rouvy and trainer road as alternatives or have others appeared?

Nope, MYWHOOSH is decent...and free! It’s that time of year when I’m finding myself tilting towards indoor riding. A virtual ride a week is about the current run rate and if feels like every time I open Zwift I need to sit and wait for an update.

It's the UAE Zwift alternative.
I switched from Zwift to this and no complaints. I only want indoor for when it really looks miserable outside.

What are you running Zwift on? That sounds like an iffy install or a dodgy Internet connection.
You can try Wahoo Systm for free. Sysm has loads of content, from absolute floggings on the classic Sufferfest sessions, to newer stuff like the "On Location" rides with Mike Cotty (which I really like) and plenty of no-video workouts if you want to watch something else.

I don't use Zwift, I just don't get it .... I know I'm in the minority.
I use trainerroad all year round as I use the outdoor workout option when weather permits.
I did have a look at Wahoo systm, used the free trial and enjoyed it but just ended up following on with trainerroad ... I already pay for this and other platforms so another one wouldn't add anything. -/ My Mrs uses Wahoo systm, keeps her interested and motivated in the slog of indoor training.

Zwift has enormous appeal to those who want to do Club / Group rides together online where they can form their own rides and communicate. I use trainerroad all year round as I use the outdoor workout option when weather permits.

Zwift racing is also a big draw, for those wanting Winter racing and those who only do online racing.
MyWhoosh though, has usurped Zwift by becoming the official UCI Partner for the next 2 years for racing.
Personally, I prefer outdoors with as little indoor as possible.
