Another thread asking for advice on a car... I've been trying unsuccessfully to get an FD2 Civic but owner won't part with it.
I've found an RS 250 for sale (rare enough in Ireland), very tempted but know nothing about what to look out for. It's 2011, with 75k miles, full service history, and comes with 6 month warranty from WW (not the best but better than nothing). Reg is hidden by dealer plates but I'm sure I could get the reg and do a history check.
What do you need to look out for? I know the timing belt can be tricky so if not done I'll haggle the price down for it.
What are they like for rust, originally a UK car and went to Northern Ireland 8 years ago and same owner since.
From the pictures it seems like the discs were changed but they're not grooved like the originals. They're looking for £9k for it, obviously cheaper in the UK but not worth it now that we get charged VRT and an extra tax after Brexit. It would work out more expensive. This one has the 19" wheels, RS Monitor, sadly no Recaros and red instead of liquid yellow.
As I said very tempted but I'll ask before I waste a day travelling or kick myself for buying a bigger dog than the current E90 PoS sitting outside.

They're very robust & reliable cars the cambelt change should include the Dephaser pulley if it's not been done then price that into the equation.
Obviously you'll want the Cup Chassis & Recaro's if possible, there are a load of readers car threads on these, lookout for Blanchimont's one as he has three.
They're a cracking steer.

This is the cup chassis, unfortunately no Recaros but they can be easily changed. I'll have a look for that thread. Thanks.Obviously you'll want the Cup Chassis & Recaro's if possible, there are a load of readers car threads on these, lookout for Blanchimont's one as he has three.
