F12 M12 - coolant leak?
Discussion
Hi PH'ers - hope you are making the most of the easter weekend ahead,
Had my car serviced last week, had a full Inspection II.
BMW did the comprehensive vehicle check (for £85 - thought it was part of the service anyway?!) and came back with a suspected coolant leak. When i spoke to the service manager he said:
'Coolant was spotted when changing the spark plugs, the coils had evidence of coolant residue.' I have never topped the coolant up and it was not low. I asked how it could be leaking if the coolant level hasn't dropped. They said it could be small leak or someone being messy when topping up coolant.
I am thinking i will get it pressure tested to be on the safe side (but my turbo lines were replaced a few years back). Part of me thinks BMW was being ultra cautious - any thoughts?

I assume you mean F12 M6?
When they say coolant was spotted on the coils, my question would be how has it got there?
Are there any coolant hoses which pass over the top of the cylinder heads? If so, inspect them for a leak or residue. If not, then i see no way of coolant finding its away to the top of the coils...
