Appreciate you probably get lots of these but just wanted to find out more about real world running costs on an F82. I've only ever had 'old' cars - by old, I mean cars which are at the point where they need regular part replacements to stay on the road, cars which are at the bottom of their depreciation curve and cars which are old enough to be regularly seen at breakers yards. This has mainly been E36/E39 BMWs with loads of other similar stuff in the mix.

I now find myself with a pretty big collection of cars, wheels and parts and I've realised that I could sell it up, buy a bottom of market 2014/15 F82 for £25k and have a bit of change left over. The F82 would be my main car if I were to buy it.

I've never had a modern car, certainly not one that depreciates or is at the age where you would regularly see them at main dealerships still. I have always resented the idea of owning a depreciating asset, but I really love the F82 M4 and have long admired them. I have a sneaking feeling that an F82 would be cheaper to run than a fleet of four needy old BMWs and this may go some way to offsetting the potential further depreciation. I also don't see F82s ever getting cheap in the way E46s did. I do around 8k a year including some business milage and I would be parking on the street in inner London. I'd want to do the occasional trackday and I have no interest in remapping etc.

What have your experiences been with running an F8x M3/4? Particularly interested in hearing experiences with higher milage early cars. How much roughly would you budget a year? I'm not bothered about fuel, more servicing, pads, reliability, etc. Has anyone else made the jump from 90s cars to modern M cars and what were your experiences?
