So I'm not used to measuring my heart rate but I bought a Garmin Instinct watch and I keep checking it.....post 2hour ride my heart rate was sat around 90-100 for approx an hour and now it's circa 77-80 a further hour on.

Resting heart rate is 40-50.

Is this normal?

It depends. It can be elevated for a while after exercise I think. I went for a ride earlier (got back at midday) where I avg 150bpm for 90 mins, and it's still sitting about 10bpm higher than usual resting now.

Yeah think its not that uncommon. doesnt take too much to get to 100 (for normal people), Also depends on fitness / difficulty of the ride - I'll often be there or higher for a while after a tough one.

Tough for me at the moment as I've been off the bike for about 3.5months

That's probably your answer - as you get fitter you'll recover more quickly
