Rover V8 breather pipe leak / question

Hi folks,

Seeking Rover V8 advice. My buddy’s Cobra has a RV8 on single carb and he’s noticed a small leak from a metal can in the lower right of the engine bay; the can has rubber pipes to the rocker covers and the leak seems to be from the cap on the can.

Are these breather pipes and what is the can for? Just wondering if the leak should be a concern re crankcase pressure etc? Thanks!

Engine breather oil catch can.

Empty it, clean it & have a look if the leak can be fixed, simple enough job.

Looks like a badly positioned catch can, and if just a simple can will need emptied from time to time.
