I have just bought an new TV (Samsung 8000 series, 4k UHD), it's arriving today so looking forward to getting it set up.

We currently use a YouView box, current TV isn't a smart TV and the playback/recording on YouView is great.

New TV is smart but will still need the YouView for recording - my question is will I get the upscaling, and 4k through the youview box or will I be better of using the Samsung Smart TV OS (not sure OS is the right term but you know what I mean) to watch TV and just use the YV for recording - or will it be the same using both?

If anyone has any experience, and recommendations on settings for the best picture?

Yeah I think I've seen this is possible, but only 1 thing at a time? And you have to be watchin that channel if the Tv is on? And not pause, rewind etc live TV?

Assuming your YouView records at a 1080 resolution it should upscale just fine and look nice too; recording at 720 may start to make the picture look a bit blocky when it tries to upscale it.
