Morning all,

Picking up a new bike on Saturday, and not getting many options for insurance through the usual comparison sites. The options I'm getting are also a bit expensive, though if that's what it costs then I'll be happy to pay it (not much choice, I suppose).

Looking for recommendations for decent insurers that wouldn't normally show up on comparison sites, please. The dealership sent me a discount code for Mackenzie Hodgson, they have decent reviews on Trustpilot so I'll be giving them a call. Any others? I'm sure there used to be a sticky thread on here but maybe not.

Not insuring some mental Italian superbike, but maybe not the most common bike on the roads (Husqvarna 701).

Appreciate any recommendations from experience, cheers.

Nevermind, got some decent quotes through The Bike Insurer. BMF, Bikesure and MCN all within a few quid of each other at a decent price. Ta.

Try bemoto before you proceed.

bemoto is recommended , I have been a customer for 3 or 4 years and as well as the good prices they seem small enough to care !

Thanks both. Bemoto couldn't insure me for a decent price, unfortunately (it's a funny old thing is insurance). Very helpful on the phone though.

Went with BMF.

I've been idly looking at these for a while and am tempted to try and get a test-ride when it warms up and we're allowed out.

What did you get quoted?

Confession time.

In all the years I’ve been riding I’ve never actually checked up to see what insurance group a bike was in if I was thinking of buying it. I’ve always been old enough that it didn’t really matter if one bike was a few quid cheaper than another. If I wanted it badly enough I paid the price.

Ended up paying £570. 27, 3 years riding, 3 years NCB. My Honda was about £230 cheaper.

It's more than I would have liked to pay but I wanted the bike. Plus I get a refund from my old policy so it's really only £300...

Same, thought has never even crossed my mind. Same with cars.
