As the last topic was deleted by the moderators due to naming and shaming, let’s try this again. I’ll update you guys as and when this progresses.

So, have you spoken to your mate, the supplying dealer?

Or are you still insisting that it's all the manufacturer's problem - despite them not being the warranty provider or the entity that sold you the car - and setting you legal team onto them?

Since you haven't amended the title to correctly show who the warranty is provided by, I suspect it'll be pulled again.

BMW Insured Warranty is underwritten by AWP P&C SA and is administered in the UK by AWP Assistance UK Ltd (trading as BMW Insured Warranty Services and BMW Roadside Assistance Services)

So you were lurking on your own thread for four days without responding to anyone? What are you going to achieve with a new thread?

I'd like to know the outcome.

It'll depend on whether the FCA, or a judge, agrees that it's fair of the warranty company to class the Ghost as a modification.

Please let us know.

Or he could just take it back to the dealer.

If the Ghost is a modification then so is a tracker , ironically BMW insurance often insist on a tracker

Not as part of a third party warranty, though...

It's in pieces at the Bmw dealer isn't it?

The Bmw dealer cracked on with the repair thinking the warranty will be covering it quoting the customer £250 excess to pay?

The supplying dealer wasn't given an opportunity to get involved?

It's a big mess.

A main dealer won't lift a finger doing any warranty work before getting the green light.

They’ll do the diagnostics - chargeable to the customer if the issue is subsequently found not to be covered by the warranty.

From experience, the dealers will do an hour of diagnostics at the customers expense, on the understanding that the fee will covered if there is a valid warranty claim.

For problems like this, (and I have had this exact issue - failed fuel injector), further investigation is required to find exactly what the issue is, and low comp would normally be a sump and head/heads off job.
However, BMW will not continue to strip the vehicle without instruction, so that has either come from the warranty company or the customer has given permission to continue to investigation.

As for the Ghost being a cause, I suspect that would be very hard to prove indeed. It is more likely to be a failed fuel injector (which is a rare but documented problem of which I have experienced first hand and on a completely standard car).

I do have a lot of sympathy for you OP if everything is legit.

My son has a BMW M240i. He has a Ghost immobiliser fitted.

He's had several warranty claims and it's never been a problem. He does have to tell the dealer about it as when the battery is disconnected (they seem to disconnect it every time it goes in!) the code needs to be input again so it's not like thsy aren't aware. He's had suspension replaced, new speaker and new iDrive unit and something in his engine replaced.

I have no idea about your previous posts but the Ghost does not impact any mechanical elements and simply acts like a "blocker". I'd speak to BMW UK about it

Unless I’m mistaken, the Ghost hardwires into a CAN.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that invalidates the warranty.

People talk about mapping engine ecu’s and seem to accept that it will void engine warranty work. From my perspective, and I regularly chase CAN faults, I’d personally accept that adding a third party none BMW approved module on to a CAN, would void my warranty on the various modules in the vehicle.

Tracker just needs a 12v fused supply.

Personally, I’d say it’s completely different to what Ghost does.
