Hello,

I am planning a small amount of bodywork restoration on our Blob WRX.
The STI spoiler is showing its age and has started to bubble and lose some lacquer. The bodyshop suggested it might be worth looking for a new replacement rather than hours of prep.
I have had a trawl of some online Subaru parts shops, ebay and facebay but they seem to be in short supply.
Ebay does list new grp replicas from either Poland or Germany, anybody got experience of these?

thanks

I’ve had three different ebay spoilers , they were bought as the cars did not have one fitted , i’ve not had an issue , one was a waist spoiler on a sti wagon the other two were boot spoilers on holdens , i bought a original prodrive one for my 04 wrx and the bolt had pulled through the spoiler , the prodrive one looked very nice but could not see out the back of the car after it was fitted 😂, if you like the spoiler you could stick with it , or look for a used one on ebay which could have the same paint problem , the issue you could have is will a non oe part fit using original holes , which you will only find out on fitting it , then it’s come from abroad so issues returning it , so in answer to your question is are they good yes , would i use the one on the car as long as it’s not damaged yes , or source from new one from a uk supplier which could be expensive

thanks for the reply and your thoughts.
I am certainly edging towards spending the time and effort to prep the existing Spoiler.

Plenty of breakers will have a good quality blob spoiler in stock.

You'll probably need to replace the seal that runs around the outside of it as well and the rubber gaskets that stop water coming through the holes in the boot. I made my own using this for the outside and this for the gaskets using the old ones as templates.

If you haven't taken the spoiler off its probably worth doing it beforehand to check for any signs of corrosion, so you can get it sorted before the new spoiler goes on.
