They are not much smaller with the new CLA.

Another vote for the BMW.

Whichever way you cut it, the new CLA is just a slightly stretched A-Class with a boot. The 3-Series is a "purpose built" staple of the BMW range, and is generally the car they MUST get spot on. The current 3-Series is no exception.

BMW, the CLA isn't a good looking car by any standards.

You sure on that? They're both hybrids so should be under very similar brackets.

No idea what car you picked but it ain't a CLA 250e. Sorry, Premium Plus might make it a quid or two more expensive. Just checked, you picked the CLA 250. Ignore what he posted, the CLA is "significantly" cheaper but the 330e all day long is the better car IMO.

BMW is a class above the Mercedes, so there's that.

What are you wanting from the car? The Mercedes interior is a little more flashy and 'in your face' which may or may not be your thing, personally I can't stand the interiors of the current and previous gen Mercedes on the lower level cars.
The BMW interior is much more to my liking, the styling of the car is very typically 'business' and overall it's a great car to drive in that segment. All of this is subjective though, I'd choose the BMW every time, but what does it matter what I would do?
