S-Hants to Thorney Island 10/7

Just a reminder for the Thorney Island run on Sunday
(see Hants TVRCC web site for further details) The hard core will be camping over night and light weights
will be led by myself from WICKHAM SQUARE at 9.30 SUNDAY, SHARP! yes sharp Shnozz will hopfully be arranging TVRCC parking at the base.
It was well supported and great day out last year so i would expect a good turnout as the weather is looking good

You going to run this year Tony 
. Think I might give the Surrey run a miss if we are going to this. Weather looks good again too .
Was that we will depart Wickham square at 09:30 sharpe
. Hopefully will see what grip I can get out of the rear tyres, not a lot at present,but I'm sure after a few runs they should heat up nicely 
. Don't forget helmets for open top cars, not that they enforced it last year.

Be good to see you there Andy. What is it and you TVR specialists and Bikes. Dom from Power runs a drag one also and Ray from V8D likes his sports bikes. Obviously working with TVRs every day makes them seem so slow

Good day out, nice to see so many faces. Twas a bit of a pain sitting in the traffic getting in though, RV8's do not like 30deg stationary stuff for an hour though .
Seemed that mine and Simons Tuscan were the only Tivs running on the Sunday this year

Absolute pain, will have to go on a weekend pass and do the runs on the saturday next year, like so many of the more switched on members did.
Out of interest, what did the runners think of the Terminal speed given out. I've already had this chat with snhozz there on the day. Mine seem to be at least 10mph down if not more. I went through the beam at an indicated 110mph (ish) got a ticket for 98mph . Normally I would put that down to the inaccuracies of the TVR speedo . However my speedo shows no more than 2-3mph error against GPS and the in car meter on the day gave my run at 109.5 .

hi harry sorry didn't get a chance to catch up with you my speed was 147mph which is about right for the gearing on i run on my bike. the grip was very poor wheel spin in all gears, hope you had a good day

From a personal view i can`t say i was that impressed this year, additional costs, additional queuing and waiting

to be fair Harry my last run was a 14.45 @ 97 terminal. There is no way I would have been travelling at a terminal of 107 in the hairdryer. In view of the massive braking zone I actually held the pedal past the finish line on one run to check the speedo and it was showing just over the ton, which on the GPS is usually around 97 so it did actually seem about right. I must admit though, whether it was the conditions, or an inconsistancy with last year, but the runs did seem to show a lower terminal speed than last year in a lot of instances.

Actually we managed to get 4 in

that is a shame. I can understand how a Sunday only attendee would view it like that.
Knowing a few of the organisers makes the position a bit clearer....the army getting greedier and greedier means that the additional costs were a necessity and the numbers required just to break even were scarey.
As a weekend camper I thought this year bettered last! Aside from the queues for the strip early in the day (when the public were first let in) the weekend was superbly organised again, was as reasonably priced as it could be, great entertainment in terms of the beer tents (live bands/disco/wet T-shirt contest/tatoo competition), loads of stalls and stands, loads of different food stalls and the drag strip to boot.
As Harry said, the queues died for the strip after about 3 pm and I got in 2 runs in no time. I think when I checked my timing slips they were only 20 minutes apart. I could have turned straight around and done another run but decided the car should have a break. Besides, I wanted to leave on a winning streak (3 runs, 3 wins and each one an improved time
). I didnt even try and leave until about 7 and had a pint, a bite to eat and chilled out in the sunshine. When I left the queues had died down and it wasnt too bad. I was home by 7.30.

shnozz only managed to get a 13.69 @ 98 mph at the end, best out of 4 but all 14 secs or below . Every time though the speedo was at or near 110 , even have a nice in car video for the fastest run, which I'm sure Tim will splice together something. Please with the times though, even managed to get the 0-60' time to 2.2 secs which given the surface conditions was pretty good.
Sorry to miss you Andy, I kept my eye out on the bike queue too, did you see that Hyabussa(sp?) type thingy, could not beleieve my eyes it did an awesome 9.51 @ 168 mph late on the day
