My GR Yaris Circuit Pack finally arrived on Friday. I collected it Friday evening, drove home from the dealer, drove to get petrol - and the tyre pressure warning light came on. Checked it out in daylight on Saturday morning and I had a large screw through the tyre!
Having to replace any new tyre is always annoying, particularly when it has done less then 30 miles. However, when I checked on Black Circles there were no Michelin PS4S available. Nor at Kiwk Fit. Nor anywhere else I tried.
Speaking to Toyota this morning, there are none in the country! The earliest delivery is expected is 3 March. In the meantime the car is unusable! The wait to actually drive the car continues, even though I have now taken delivery. Very frustrating - not least as the first 30 miles were fantastic!

Could you replace 2 tyres on the same axle to a different brand?

I was told it could not be replaced at that spot, unfortunately.

Some of the more, err, 'independant' places might plug it, but I wouldn't want them touching the wheels I suppose.

That's not repairable - To near to the sidewall of the tyre to be safely vulcanised.

I probably could. But the PS4S are part of the Circuit Pack - and great tyres - so I’m keen to stick with those. Plus I’d prefer to buy one new tyre rather than two!

I would stick anything I could on it until I could get the right tyre back on it. Just dont drive it like you stole it until you can get the correct tyre.

Can the supplying dealer not pinch one from their demo or another customer car going out in March, then order a tyre and replace that one?

They don’t have a demo. I’m waiting to hear from Toyota Head Office - I’m sure they must have some spare tyres for their press car(s)?

I remember this kind of thing being an issue with the original Volvo XC90, an odd size that ended up putting a number of cars off the road for a period of time.

When I looked at ordering my GR in November, I was undecided about a CP or standard car and checked out the tyres to replace the Dunlops and there were stocks then, perhaps some people have already changed. Have you checked all the big internet suppliers like Camskill etc to see if they have any squirrelled away?

You’re welcome, I’ve had plenty of experience in the past ordering unusual winter/summer tyres, and it’s nice to help a fellow (future) GR owner.

Good news, this brings up the space saver issue. Does anyone plan on getting one ?

You can’t fit a space saver in a GR Yaris. The 12v battery resides in what would be the spare wheel well.

Why cant you fix a puncture in that position ?

I know you're 'not allowed' - but why? does anyone know the reason ?

I guess it is in a position of most flex so will be more liable to failure.....
