Tuscan 4.0 or a Cerbera 4.5?

I had a 1998 Cerbera 4.5 followed by a 2002 Tuscan 3.6 (not 4.0 - Sorry!).
TBH I liked the Cerbera better, I had it for 3 glorious years before getting the Tuscan. The only reason I changed is because I fancied something a little different, a change of scenery if you like. I was never fussed about the roof off business as well.
IMHO the Cerbera looks better, it 'felt' more like a racecar (tuscan feels too civilised for me!) and I preferred the decatted V8 soundtrack
to the S6 (although I believe the 4.0S sounds better than the 3.6 units). But perhaps as the Cerbera was my first TVR, I might have a soft spot for it…
However I am amongst a minority - everyone I know bar my mother and business partner liked the Tuscan better. Make of that what you will.

P.S. Only had the Tuscan for about 6 months - it's now up for sale at HHC and I'm waiting for my Sagaris to arrive in the next 4 weeks

Just changed from a Tuscan S to a Cerb 4.5, Cerb is a much better put together car all round, good bit quicker IMHO too, particularly over the average B road with less than perfect surfacing, less harsh and twitchy. I think the Tuscan is startling to look at where as the Cerb is classically beautiful, Cerb is far more comfortable and easier day to day. Tuscan sounded better with the CCC cans fitted, will be getting sports tails for the Cerb, which I hope will improve the sound. More issues with ground clearance with the Cerb than the Tuscan though, I think Nitrons are on the cards. The lack of roof removal is a big one, offset for me as I have kids and a Stag if I really need the wind in the hair fix. Which ever you choose you will love it.

Totally agree with this as well, the S6 tends to accelerate much more gradually hence you don't feel it as much. Cerb 'feels' as if it has much more oomph

I had the Tuscan S and with that in mind I disagree with your statement.
The Tuscan gets the nod every time. Being able to take off the roof and back window will be a bonus in time I guarantee!
The Tuscan never let me down once but the Cerbera broke down three times.
I had CCC Cans on the Tuscan and I got the Cerbie Decatted. I still prefer the Tuscan.
So yes I choose the Tuscan!

Bearing in mind of course I had a 'standard' 3.6 Tuscan. Never had the chance to drive a Tuscan with the 4.0S powerplant so chances are the differences I experienced would be less pronounced if I had had a Tuscan S

Wasn't sure about this one myself, so went and test drove a Tuscan, a Chim and a Cerb.
Tuscan felt quick but a bit twitchy and not particularly well-made. Great fun to chuck it around though.
Chim felt like a (very brisk) old-fashioned British sports car compared to the others. Easiest to drive by a long way. Again the build quality seemed a bit suspect and it just didn't have the "wow factor" for me.
Cerb immediately felt better put together and outrageously quick. The only one that had that supercar feeling to me, plus it sounded and looked fabulous (inside and out). It was comfortable and solid and could easily do a trans-continental blast. Decision made quite easily for me.
Just wish the roof came off sometimes...

Yes that's fair enough. The Cerbera for me never felt quick, just fast. The Tuscan was twitchy and lightning quick. I guess it depends how you like to drive.
The Tuscan was very comfortable and I used to drive from Slough to Chichester and to Birmingham on a weekly basis without any hassles (except the fuel bill!)
The beauty of TVRs are not which one is better but which one you prefer. Like women really!
Go and drive both and see for yourself...

Totally agree with the fact the Tuscan felt more comfortable to drive on a day to day basis - front windscreen more like a standard car rather than the letterbox format in the Cerb, I felt as if i was sat slightly more upright in the Tusc and it was more reliable (bearing in mind that it was 4 years newer than the Cerb).
To me though the Cerb felt more like a supercar whilst the Tuscan felt like a supremely fast sports car.
But as you rightly said it's all down to personal preference and the only way to find out which is right for you is to drive both!
