Next car after Gold GTD
Discussion
Hi Everyone,
I am currently driving a 2016 Golf GTD (automatic) and am looking to change my car. I am able to buy a car outright for a maximum of £19k and will be keeping it for at least the next 5 years. I would ideally like the following in the next car:
- At least the same power but preferably more.
- Digital Dash would be preferable but not essential.
- 5 doors
- If possible 4WD
(I think this is all)
I've considered the following:
- Cupra 290: Can buy 2019 version for the right price, newer car with a lot of power for the money, no MOT to worry about for a few years.
- Golf GTI: Probably looking at 2017 version, is it worth getting the older car and will the valuation and car hold up for the next 5 yers without needing any massive work done?
- Audi A5: Similar to GTI with age, could potentially get 2018 model.
- Mercedes-Benz A-Class: Would only really want the new MBUX but unlikely go get the upgraded 10" screens, the small 7" screen definitely not as good looking.
- Golf GTE: Electric motor would cover commute to work so very economical. Similar power to GTD. Not fully convinced about going electric yet.
Does anyone have any thoughts on these cars or are there any other good alternatives missing? I would really appreciate your help and I cannot make a decision on this!!!

Just out of interest why digital dash?
When I specced my car last year the "virtual" dashboard I think it's called was an £1100 option, I thought it was smart and novel, but that novelty would wear off as it became the norm. I just went for the standard needles and it is more than adequate.
No Octavia or Karoq on your list?

If you can live without AWD the PS 308 GTI is a hard car to look past & you'll still have some Manufacturers Warranty left:

A45 AMG although they're older this & the RS3 below are good value as although they're a bit more expensive to run they'll depreciate slower & be more desirable.
