I'd be concerned about battery life - how many miles will it do now on battery alone, versus when the car was new?

I have no idea, I haven't viewed it yet to be able to check the condition.

I've done some research. The battery is modular and there are 6 modules, each costing £1,300 for new module.

The car will not have a battery warranty.

If at all possible, get yourself an extended test drive, and ascertain the battery's quality for yourself. A good long drive will also uncover any other potential issues.

As a rule of thumb, a well-maintained new-ish BMW 5-Series with 110k miles on the clock should drive like a new-ish car. If it feels tired to drive, walk away.

Are you going the two car route?

If you want a sensible priced Hybrid then the Infiniti's are a good buy:

I did 50K miles in 2 years in my 530e. My colleague's is on 80K miles and just about to hand back after 3 years. It drive like new still.

They are very good cars and I would image one at 110K miles has been up and down the motorway most of its life. An indication would be if the ave mpg (if still shown) is mid to late 30's.

If its an ex fleet vehicle then it most likely has been maintained well and generally should be reliable.

You'd be better off looking for a BMW with a proper engine rather than that chatty four cylinder that those 'e' models are lumbered with.
