Formula 1 drivers could find themselves swapping teams throughout the season and driving every car on the grid, if a radical idea from motorsport governing body the FIA is adopted.
The controversial rule is one of the proposals put together by the FIA and sent to the F1 team bosses. Along with the weight handicap system, it is likely to come in for ferocious criticism when discussed at this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix.

"There is a large number of very radical proposals that have been circulated to the teams for discussion," he told the Daily Telegraph. "Some of these are very speculative ideas and we have to talk to the teams about them, but we mustn't sit there and not talk about things."
There is an argument for each driver driving each car once. This has an advantage because then we would see who are the best drivers and teams and if there are means to make it more interesting for the public then we have to talk about them."
The proposal will be discussed at the next F1 Commission meeting on October 28.
This is a wind up. This must be a wind up. It just beggars belief - are they going to reduce F1 to the level of indoor karting, where everyone swaps cars and then complains about getting a duff one?
All the drivers would have to be employed by the FIA, as there'd be no point in Ferrari paying Schumacher £20m to drive in one race per year, would there? Would the drivers take their race engineers with them, or would they have to adopt new methods of working every two weeks?
A complete and utter farce. Too stupid to even contemplate.

on] have to disagree here, ferrari have made a car around MS which doesnt really show his true talent. remember MS jumped into a kart at the world championships in germany last year and was running in the top ten until mechanical woes, and this was against the worlds best karters. I would also argue that he put the jordan 7th on the grid in his first race (at Spa!!) and won in the Benetton a year later! Finally, before the F1 career, he was whipping bottom in the world sportscar championship!
I reckon all of the drivers are way better than the cars are making them appear. The nature of the driver aids etc take the skill away. I'm not saying he is the best, but he is certainly one of the top five drivers in f1

off] Ayerton Senna managed to impress a lot of Rally drivers when he had a go - beat a lot of them too as i recall!
But back to the driver swap issue, this is obviously a stupid idea to make their other ideas seem less stupid and so be accepted, a typical FIA policy, like threatening to drop Silverstone in order to get things sorted quickly

If that is true it's the biggest, the most outragious (sp?) far biggest joke in F1 history.
