Wife needs an automatic shed to literally use as a shed

Having recently made it to the other side of chemotherapy, after being diagnosed with cancer last year during lockdown, my better half has decided she needs more time outdoors and to pursue activities like gardening and paddle boarding etc.

Anyway, I’m thrilled to help her out and given that her allotment isn’t in the best area and it’s about 1.5 miles away we decided she needs a car to keep all her tools and such in that she run down to the alottment in and put a paddle board on the roof etc.

I’m really struggling to find something cheap enough to fit the bill. We have a very modest budget of around £500 and just need it to be automatic with a big boot. Lockdown makes travelling around the countryside to look a no go, but I’m not finding much around on usual places. Anyone got any ideas or seen anything that might suit? Thanks in advance.

Japanese, petrol. Buy on condition with a bit of tread on the tyres and the longest MoT ticket you can find.

Something like a Honda Jazz will do you well.

That's exactly what my cousin has been using for his allotment shed for the last 5 years. You can't kill them. Reasonable MOT history. Possibly a bit juicy, but not if she's delicate with her right foot

They would work, but at your budget could get expensive when things go wrong. You could easily blow your budget again just on a service and a few bushes.

Japanese is def the way forward. And any hatchback will have a big boot with the back seats down. Jazz, Civic, Almera, maybe even a Micra if it’s big enough.

I bought a 1998 Toyota Rav4 2.0 petrol Auto for the same budget as yours . Great old banger just pasted its MOT had it nearly 4 years now . 100% reliable I just change the oil & filter every year . I only do 3,000 miles a year to tow a little boat back & from the river & an annual trip to Cornwall each summer.
