I have a Rel Quake sub that has just started to hum and crackle really loud - I know the culprit is a TP-Link home plug that I've just introduced into the same room. I've tried the sub in every plug socket in the room but still hums and crackles, even when it's only the power cable attached. (It's fine if I plug it into another room on a different circuit).

Is there any way to get rid of this, without removing the home plug? I really need the home plug for my Sky Q to work around the house (it just doesn't seem to be stable enough over wifi). Running an ethernet cable into this room isn't very practical.

Many thanks

I’d try a mains conditioner if you can. There’s a 6way extension lead with conditioner for about £35.

Send it back if it doesn’t work.

Should this work with only the sub plugged into the mains conditioner or would the home plug need to go into it too? (Sub is on the other side of the room to the home plug, hence the question)

I’d try plugging the sub into the conditioner and the TP Link into another socket in the room.

The other sockets on the conditioner could be used for anything else

I had this too. I was using a TP Link for running an IP Hikvision camera. On my old Arcam amp I hadn’t noticed it. Switched to a new Audiolab 6000a and there was a noticeable noise through the main speakers. Turned off the TP and all was good.

I switched to using a TP link TL-WA850RE extender. Plugged the camera into it, paired to the router, and it works flawlessly.
