Was anybody else hoping that the OP had bought a
£600 V12 Mercedes?!

Good work on the restoration so far.

I had one of these as my first car at 17 and took it from 84000 to 128000 miles over a couple of years. It was driven as hard as possible almost all the time and is very fondly remembered by me and my mates. It did sound reasonably good and may once have got going so fast down a long downhill stretch of dual carriageway that It went off the end of the speedo.

I’ve already found my next matiz to save, it needs the front part of sills for which I still have panels left over from this one smile
Brilliant thread - but I'm a bit concerned you may be developing an addiction!

I know the state of roads in Bulgaria (although that's not where you are) - won't the Matiz fall into a pothole somewhere and never emerge?

....or is that the plan...? ;-)

Thought I was the only person on PH daft enough to own one.
Mine did a year and 13K miles when I lived in Korea.
Excellent work on keeping yours on the road.

I used to run one as a commuter /station car. Became far too attached to it than I should have done. The thrum of the little 3 pot is great and they’re pretty bombproof. Glad you’re saving it.
