I'm currently looking at a 1990 car and almost have the deal over the line with price agreed. On carrying out HPI through VCheck, this has thrown up some points I'm not fully comfortable with, especially the Export tag (flagged on VCheck) but there is conflicting information on the DVLA site where there is no export marker - it's not then been returned as an import.... Another flag to me is the V5, the current owner (8th) only has the history since he has had the car (as well as the service book) nothing else - although this was for full engine electrics and engine rebuild late last year (£6k) - detailed paperwork of maintenance history was noted lost by previous owner. The V5 was re-issued in 2019 a week after the current owner bought the car - and before this was stored for a few years. Can anyone suss this out?

The second part of this is the mileage at 10 years old the car done 140,000, however, then after a 'clock change' due to faulty odometer the mileage was reduced to 26,000 (noted in service book...). It's now sitting at 43,000 - effectively a 157,000 mile car...

Screenshots below to assist from both VCheck and DVLA. Thoughts appreciated.

6 year gap between the 140k+mileage and the clock change, export discrepancy, missing service history.
I would walk.

With a £6K engine/electrics rebuild it's an easy >£10K car.

Too many red flags on that one for me
