I am not looking for a Torque GT style high touch service, I just want someone who can get me access to the auctions and handle the shipping from the Japanese side - any recommendations? Thanks

Club Japan Imports I regularly see on fb.

I used respect motors for my legacy.

Is Respect the Russian outfit? A good experience? Did they break out their charges separately?

I would definitely use them again worked well, had a long chat on the phone with them to discuss my requirements.

Then every day I got sent auction lots that may be of interest to me along with the translation for the auction sheet and their recommendations. They were honest if they didn't think the car was worth bidding on.

All contact was via whatsapp so nice and easy, they have an office in New York which dealt with my purchase and bidding, this helped with contact times due to the time zones etc.

In terms of costing I spoke to a few companies which were all coming out pretty similar, respect were one of the cheaper ones.

In terms of price breakdown they talk you through the costs at the start, then you pop a refundable deposit down to allow them to start bidding, my final bill looked like this:

The following provides all the charges for clearance and expenses in Japan:

1. Auction price of the car - 123 000 yen
2. Export work, auction fee, inland transportation and all other - 80 000 yen
3. Freight - 110 000 yen

Total payable:

3 010 USD - 1 396 USD = 1 614 USD total payable

I've got the car now, all on the road and in use. Would definitely use them again. Hope this helps.

Autospecs (JapaneseUsedCars) I think fall into this category. I used them back in 2007 and was v happy with the car, good all round, and they're still going, would use them again if I was looking to import.

I’ve noticed the prices of Japanese stuff increasing a fair bit lately. Seems to be increased demand in America and Australia.

Agreed, drop Tony an email
info@japaneseusedcars.com I'm sure he will help you find the right car. They are not a TGT type outfit, they help you find the car and will sort paperwork and transport to UK you then need to arrange collection at this end and pay the duties, arrange the nova etc
