New tv, stay at 65inch 4K or 55inch oled

Hi, yesterday my 2 year old throw a dogs toy and it hit the tv and smashed, the tv was a 5 year old Samsung ue65ju7500 , I have never looked at replacing it as never been let down, so I don’t know the current specs and what to go for!

Insurance have made a cash settlement of 699 minus 250 excess which I have tried to get up, as I do feel is a bit low, but that’s another story, but will be looking for a new one around 700-900, but trying to spend as little as possible..

I’m not sure whether to go for another 4K Samsung 65 inch as I’m sure the picture is going to be the same if not better quality, our tv is a bit big for our room but we’re used to it now.

Or do I go smaller with a better picture, never thought about “downgrading “ size, after a few days I doubt i wouldn’t even notice though, have been eyeing up:

Any suggestions? Not looking to spend any more money as i wasn’t expecting to be forking out any money for a tv at this moment in time!

I would highly recommend the 4K LG CX or GX series. Should be some great deals as it is just about to be refreshed - minor evolution so existing CX and GX will be a bargain.

Their panel technology is the no.1.

aren't they stoill knocking on £1300 or so though?

i'd love to do an OLED to non-oled comparison

have an older LG B6 which is very good - but i have the feeling the tech has moved on pretty quickly in this space.

looking for a new TV for a budget cinema room i'm building - so currently debating betwixt projector on another TV.

interested to know other views - as the scope for getting out to john lewis to look at stuff side by side is pretty limited at the mo.

I just got a 65 inch 4k LED for a games room wall but have a 65 inch OLED in another room where we watch tv more. I expected I'd notice a difference in picture quality and yes, it's pretty noticeable, but given that the games room telly is more for background watching it's certainly good enough. I don't think I'd want to go back to anything less that the OLED for our main viewing now tho.

We're also fortunate enough to have a dedicated cinema room with a 4k/3d projection system and there's really no comparison in that the benefits of the size, scale, event and wow-factor of the projector system is just better than watching a big telly no matter how good the telly IMHO

Maybe the thread title is a typo, but just incase it's not the third TV you linked is a QLED, which is totally different to an OLED.

If I was a stickler for image quality I'd choose an OLED over an LED TV any day as the image quality and contrast is fantastic, better than any LED I've seen

I’m lucky enough to have had Samsung QLED TVs and they’re great in bright rooms. Today I bought the LG BX10 and the picture quality is incredible.l

Managed to get extra £200 from the insurance, tv was £999 with £100 off code, pretty impressed with it! Still getting used to having 10inches missing, but it fits the room better, our lounge is tiny and the tv is angled under the stairs so the 65 always looked too big.

That was the other one I was looking at, was a close call, Most of the day it’s just CBeebies on the tv for the kid, then the odd film or series at night with the mrs, just went with the Samsung as my last 3 TVs were Samsung, the smashed one I’ve owned for over 5 years now, whatever I bought would of suited my needs, maybe I could of got better and was a bit impatient, but impressed so far!

I have the same, albeit with bad screen burn.

Do others think the technology of the LG CX is a big step up? I’m thinking of getting one while the prices are good.
