Hi all. I've just changed the outer CV boot on my VW T5 (low mileage, genuine driveshaft with no problems before other than the split CV boot!) and on a quick test drive just now, theres a very noticeable vibration/wobble through the wheel.

Any suggestions as to what it could be before I pull it all apart again this weekend and try and diagnose it?

Cheers
Dave

How much did you dismantle during the replacement? If you just fitted a replacement split boot and didn't disturb the drive line, it may be unrelated to your work. If you took one or both ends apart, there is more chance it's something you did.

Just removed the outer CV joint. I'm going to get it back in the air tomorrow and have a look at everything again. Annoying as I was checking everything was tight and torqued up properly when I reassembled it...

Check the outer fits the locating shoulder and is seated fully. If it has dirt trapped under it, that would induce a slight wobble.

Depending on the drive shaft type, the inner drive shaft joint could have lost a ball or trunnion into the boot if it has been allowed to slide out, what year and engine type is it?
