M25 STILL closed rant.......

M4 eastbound heading towards M25 late last night. No warnings on very expensive new warning/infomation gantries of the complete closure of M25 until the 2nd from LAST gantry sign
Luckily had picked up a traffic programme a few miles earlier with the news.
Thought ok, hit through centre of London to get to Essex as no conjestion charge to pay
LASTgantry warns M25 shut at junction 3 for overnight road works
Fing magic!!!!
Shed loads of cars pulling over into the hard shoulder studying maps, totally bolloxed
Had to turn right onto M25 and travel all around Surrey section etc to get to Dartford Tunnel.
Get to Dartford tunnel auto pay booth and fling in £1. Autobooth decided not to register payment
Feed it another £1 and it decides can enter the tunnel
The cost to the country must be fing millions with this shut and everyone grinding to a halt.....

Ridiculous, isn't it? At the weekend the happy signs were proudly displaying traffic info from 100's of miles away for some date in the future, but can they present genuinely useful information in a timely fashion? Can they b'lox.

M23 to M25 was down to one lane on Friday night, we got stuck in the queue from hell at 12:10 a.m. where the f@ck is everyone going at that time of the morning?

Strangely i had warnings about the M25 closure on my way to work. On the M18 about 150 miles from the M25

Received no warnings last night either....

First of all I was coming round the North Circular only to find sections closed for repairs. Somehow managed to get off and on again, but had no idea how I managed it.

Then coming down the M40, about to turn onto M25. Junction closed. FFS!
Not much warning, no diversion signs. Lots of confused drivers doing 40mph in the middle lane wondering what to do.

So found myself having to continue up the M40, turn off at the nearest exit and make the route up. Had to go through Slough

Had a taxi pick up one night from Heathrow and instead of taking the shortcut round the airport decided it would be faster just to hit the spur road,M4,M25 then onto M3 and home....Fat chance,i got as far as turning from the M4 to M25 ,,the slip side going south was closed so i had to stay on the slip going North up to the M40 come off at M40 turn round at a junction to get back on M25 south to M3...OK till i get to the M3 ,they shut the slip M25-M3 ,so it was down to Chertsey junction M25 and come back to get on M3,there must be a way of keeping one lane open surely?
