gold rocker cover

i have a 1980 mini clubman estate with a 1100 engine. it has a gold rocker cover, is this of any significance and if so what does it mean??

As far as i know it means someones painted it, could be wrong though.

Probably a rocker cover from one of the old BMC 'Gold-Seal' exchange engines they used to do way back. Is the rest of the engine gold as well?

There was a brand new one of them on fleabay a while back with no miles.

Lord only knows how long thats been sitting around.
