Arcam Delta 290, same as Alpha 9?

As title, I’m pretty sure the Alpha 9 was a 290 with a different facia.

A new version of the 290 was launched and within a year or so the Alpha 9 was launched replacing it.

I was told in a specialist Hi Fi shop ( remember those ) that this was the case.

The reason I am asking is I wish to buy a phone stage, I can only find Alpha 9 ones.

Anyone done this?

Don't know about products of that era. With the later products there was only one (inbuilt) phono stage for the whole range.
If you don't have to go onboard, any phono stage will work.
