Who's put a rollbar in their TVR??
Discussion
I want to put a rollbar in the Chimaera does anyone have a pattern or blueprint for one??
I want either a chrome or polished alloy rear cage with a diagonal brace, the brace can be added to an existing cage then refinished so that's not a problem.
Any pointers for the best value folks?

I had a "Rollcentre" bar installed by Tower View Racing, also 4 point harness mountings (the upper ones are on the bar, but the lower ones are attached to the chassis - they're nice in that you retain the standard seat belts) and their reinforced seat mountings (I'm 19 stone and could feel the floor flexing as I went over bumps). About GBP1200 the lot, IIRC. I was very pleased - the installation looks like the factory did it!

I have a Rollcentre bar in the Griff. Fitted by Tower View but cost a lot less than £1200.
And it doesn't look like it was fitted by the factory - it looks a helluva lot better than that!
I also had one in my Griff. Only problem was that my head could touch it when seated in a normal driving position. And there was insufficient room between the bar and the roof to fit any padding. I could see myself doing more harm to my head as a result of smashing it on the roll bar than if it was not there.
Worth checking out hight and fitting etc to be sure its what you really want.
I've a Rollcentre one too. Details in this thread
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=28193&f=13&h=0&p=1
but in summary
The cost was as follows...
"Aluminised" bar £450
Carriage £15
Fitting £200
+ VAT
= total of £782
and here's a (rather blurred) picture of it

Now that's a nice looking bar with function as well, I like that!
Thanks everyone!
GarryM fitted his own from TowerViewRacing see The Griffith Pages with pics
I had mine fitted at T-V-R and can hichly recommend them, produced by Martin Shorts RollCenter to a very high standard, and they fit better than FF imho as they dont stop teh seats going back fully

Morning Corin
I saw a great one in Matt Hoskings ( M@H ) car at Le Mans, it was made by a friend of his, but is a one off, due to liability implications etc - defo worth looking at though, very practical, strong and looked good.
( You missed a great Ian brown gig last night by the way)

Totally agree!
Oi Bummer! Leave the feckin car alone. You ain't got enough power to spin the wheels (unless you start by reversing hard on gravel
) let alone roll the friggin thing! And put down your July copy of Trevs and chatting up them loose women outside your work!

Does it come as a bare metal, and then you specify what finish you want? Would like one in a Griff (if I get one next year).
From Tower View website...
The standard finish is matt black but other alternative finishes are possible:
* "Aluminised" to match the roof stays
* Colour coded to match the interior.
* Leather or vinyl trimmed.
* or even wood veneered!
See www.t-v-r-services.co.uk/griffithandchima.html for full details.
