Thought I would get in early with this one

Will Joe Biden make it to the end of his term or will Kamala Harris have to come off the bench.

What are the chances of Donald Trump being re-elected next time around.

Any other runners and riders ?

Even though it's the US assassinations are still pretty rare.
The last serious attempt was Regan (?)

I fully expect Joe to see out his term. How capable he'll be towards the end will be another matter, but he seems to have put a competent team in place around him, so they'll keep him functioning for as long as necessary.

The Dem nomination will likely go to Harris if she keeps her nose clean over the next 4 years. So it will either be her or whoever the GOP stands up against her.

The winner will likely be decided on whether the GOP have sufficiently repaired their reputation to attract back the moderates in sufficient numbers, coupled with the mysoginists and racists that will never vote for a black woman. Unless of course Trump does a UKIP and attacts that lot to his own party and hands another term to the Dems.

The Dems biggest problem will likely be the return of voter apaphy after 4 years of competent and quiet government.

I think only time will tell.

(1) Trump is being side lined by GOP. He won't go quietly so depending how long that will take will decide if the Republicans will be ready in 3 years time with a credible nomination.

(2) Biden is going to do an Iain Duncan Smith - "the quiet man". This means that Harris will probably be the master of her own destiny. She can either adopt a "slow but steady wins the race" policy or go in like a whirlwind. If she p*sses off the voters between now and the nominations then the old men of the party will get cold feet. I don't think anyone else (Pete Buttigieg etc) can make any in-roads until this has been established. Remember how Bernie was conveniently pushed aside and Biden was shoe horned in to the nomination this time round!

Its early days for the Biden-Harris administration obviously, for no particular reason the feeling I get is he's a 1 term president and will not seek re-election, opening the door for her. Assuming all goes well over the next 2/3 years.

Mayor Pete I think could get to the white house, he's smart and speaks very well. VP ? maybe.. but a black woman president and gay VP ticket might still be too much for some to accept..

On the GOP side, they have to figure out where they want to be. if you look at comments the likes of Taylor-Greene, Boebert, Cruz, Hawley, Paul and Graham have made over the past few weeks they clearly are not going to attract floating voters. If they decide to move away from the far right I can see Ben Sasse standing again - he, at least seems a respectable person unlike the people listed above.

He's been impeached twice. His party have started to turn against him.

I strongly expect that he'll be convicted when his Impeachment goes before the Senate. Why? Because the Republican party has worked out that he's toxic, and that they have to disassociate themselves from him if they want to win in 2024. Enough republicans should vote to convict, and that will stop him from running for public office again.

Trump isn’t coming back. I honestly believe he never really wanted to actually win the first time around, he just wanted the publicity and spotlight.

If they had banned him from social media as soon as he entered the White House and he had to actually face doing the job instead - he would have left way before the term was completed.

I think he will make a lot of noise about 2024, and fund a run just (whether it’s him or someone he likes) to unsettle the boat, but I cannot see him wanting to actually do another 4 years restriction in the job itself.

its all about the grift. If he starts his own party as rumoured, it'll be about leeching money from supporters. As it is donations he requested for his "stop the steal" fund to fight the election result were being used to pay for the campaign, meantime over $600m dollars went missing from the campaign in to someones pockets...

As the penny starts top drop on QAnon folk that they've been had he is quickly becoming persona non grata everywhere..

Oh absolutely.

He obviously has a massive popularity with a certain population, I have no doubt his new party or fund will already be open for donations to ‘fight the injustice’ or whatever slogan someone invents for him. And he will absolutely take to the road for rallies and drum banging right up until the point where it gets to the stage of actually getting back into the ‘system’ for being nominated again.

Plenty of money from honest people’s pockets, plenty of ego stroking and no genuine interest in serving anyone else’s interests beyond his own.

$617m funnelled from his campaign fund they know of. trump started fund raising from day 1 of his term and raised over $2bn yet his campaign ran out of money in the last two months... where did the money go.

trumps stop the steal election fight fund went directly into his pocket. Over $250m raised, just over $8m spent...
As always with trump, follow the money

Joe Biden is currently the 2nd oldest living US president. Only Jimmy Carter is older. Does anyone think he's likely to run again, aged 82? (Ok, probably 81 on election day)

My guess is Harris to be on the Democrat ticket next time out, whether that's as the current VP or as President, having taken over in the interim, is anyone's guess.
Agree with others about Buttigieg, he was my 2nd choice for the nomination, Mike Bloomberg was my first choice, but didn't get any momentum in his campaign at all and is even older than Biden, so I'd suggest his political career is finished.
Buttigieg, I can definitely see as President in 2032 or similar.

Difficult to see where the next Republican nominee is going to come from. Looking at 2016, maybe Marco Rubio or Ted Cruz running again, outsiders, maybe Ben Carson or Carly Fiorina?

Already kind of stated he would do one term.

https://www.politico.com/news/2019/12/11/biden-sin...

Interestingly if he's popular he could run for a 2nd term, after 2 year due to ill health step aside for Kamala to take the top job. She could then effectively (if she does a good job) go on for another 10 years.
