So when I heard of the encouragement to go and "protest" at the G8 conference I thought to myself - "Aye, aye. This spells nothing but trouble."
I have many faults. Being wrong isn't one of them.
In amongst the perfectly well-meaning but rather vague majority who want to point out that being vastly discriminatatory in your trade agreements with countries that are NOT in the G8 if you are a G8 member would seem to be unethical...there are a total bunch of violent scumbags (some "anti-capitalist" - fuck, how do you think your trainers got paid for?) who have gone along for a "pleasant" punch up with the somewhat beleagured local constabulary.
All I can say is I hope they put 'em in a cell with Big Tam and "yeer ma wee puppy, neow"...

As Vocal as I am about Live 8, I disagree with the march to Edinburgh. I hoped it would'nt be violent, but alas Don was right. They are ruining a beautiful town, and once again, turning the world against them and their cause.

Just seen the pics on the news. Good to see the police smacking up the commies and anarchist tw@ts. Those c0cks should just accept capitalism and get on with their lives. A couple of people I know are flaky yoghurt weavers, they're always going to various protests and I've thumbed through a few "Ethical Consumerism" books which are a load of self-contradicting crap. Personally, I can't see the point in putting on an expensive load of bollox so that overpaid idiots can massage their own egos. The frigging planet has about 600 M years worth of significant life development it will support life for about another 2200 M years, the estimate goes. To put this crap into context, the last of the dinosaurs dies 56M years ago. Humans have been around for about 2M in one form or other. It makes me angry about these idiots ruminating about fossil fuels and how they are going to all be used up and we'll melt along with the ice caps due to big cars and people with cigars (bastards!!!). So, the coal measures were laid down 350M years ago, the whole system aint static, anything could be around the corner.
One thing is certain, the human race isn't here to stay, it will either evolve or become extinct (IMO as a backlash from the environment/over adaption). So all this twoddle about everyone who refuses to sod it and enjoy themselves in a fit of hand wringing apologetic nonsense, for
s sake, we're only transient aggregations of molecules, let's smoke some tyres and some birds! I don't really understand what makes these people tick, I just hope they don't breed!!!

Passed a convoy of 20 police vans on the Edinburgh bypass on my way home this evening. Just glad I didn't decided to go into Edinburgh - colleagues from work were heading into town for a while - didn't especially fancy leaving the Teg parked on the street while these numpties are about 
How exactly do anarchists organise these little meetings? Surely if they want to destroy authority, nobody can actually be in chrage of arranging anything? The minute one of them says "right, let's all go the the G8 protest", he's become an authority figure as he's telling the others what to do, which means they should immediately go and set fire to him or something.

On the positive side the Edinburgh courts have been cleared for this week so they can deal with the troublemakers.I can't believe the cops haven't an idea who these pondlife are, they are always the same type of unwashed, white dreadlocked doc marten wearing hippy basts.
They appear at any protest you care to mention, Mrs A had her office invaded by them and they seem to be several rungs further down the evolutionary ladder than tadpoles, they are well organised and are rumoured to be paid by competing companies/organisations

The violent protesters were going to be there anyway - they've turned up at all of the recent summits like this, as well as the May Day protests and so on. There are some people who believe that 'the system' will somehow respond to random distruction and there are others who can spot an opportunity for a fight. Both groups were going to be there, regardless of Geldorf's plans.
Blaming Geldorf for this, or saying his protest is worthless because some other idiots are screwing around is missing the point. If he wants to make a political stand, and can raise enough people to join him (and he has), then good on him. A bunch of people really think fair trade and other support for Africa would be a positive thing - good on them. Unlike many armchair pundits who are against this, that and the other, or want some big political change, this lot have got up and done something. Great. Now why does a completely unrelated minority make Live8 any less worthwhile?
