Am I in a minority regarding getting riled regarding stiched inserts in magazines...

The cheapskate company knows that we empty the magazine over the recyling bin before reading it, so now the latest is to glue a bit of cardboard into the magazine, and use more glue to stck their cheapass leaftet in.

:shout:VCPoker you have been warned....you have ruined Evo & Stuff so far...

I sent them this email: (sent to VCPoker)

[quote=Chris started ranting away and ]

Please no more stiched inserts in my magazines - this month you have (presumably, so far) ruined the readability of my copies of Evo and Stuff.

I can think of no finer reason to never register with yourselves than you muscling your (distincly mediocre) leaflet regarding teaching Grandmother to suck eggs about Poker & trying in a laughable amateur way to promote your second rate poker site into my monthly reading matter.

What's wrong with an adverts you cheapskates...

Yours, with best regards that our paths need not cross again.

They are annoying and it's hard to look at another article without the pages flipping back to the card ad

I'd imagine they cost more than a full page ad though

I used to sell adspace & I would always try to talk clients out of inserts...

It's not that different in costs to inserting a leaflet to a full page ad (or wasn't when I was involved) obvious extra cost is the production of the leaflet / bin fodder...

Rip the advert out at the spine, throw advert in the bin.

And watch the rest of the mag fall out too.

I guess they're glueing them because they've finally realised the first thing anyone does with a magazine these days (and for quite a while) after buying it is hold it upside down over a bin and give it a good shake...amazed its taken them this long to cotton on.

It was at its worst when all the new free ISP's were coming out and most magazines had a load of CD's in them. Its irritating becuase the firstly pulling the CD off would often pull half the page behind it out and also the page would then stick to the one next to it. Used to piss me right off.

Ahh, that explains it. I was flicking through Bedford Rascal's copy of 'Boys in Shorts' the other day and all the pages were stuck together. Couldn't figure it out at the time.

I do exactly the same in the vain hope that if enough people do it then the newsagents would revolt against the guilty magazines.

Isn't Evo glued?

Was this an intentional pun?

When they ask me if I want a bag, I say yes, then empty the inserts into the bag and leave it on the counter. Either that or flip through the pages whilst hanging it over the bin outside if i've bought it from my local shop.
