2021 UK Targa/Road Rallying Thread

Hopefully 2021 will be better than 2020.
The Bath Festival Targa entry opened today, you had to be quick too.
There are 119 entries for the 75 places.
A decent events calendar for the South is being compiled Here
Even if all events don't run there looks to be a fine chance of getting some fun.

Hoping to get my Panda out on a couple of single venue, tarmac Targas this year. Got my eye in the one at Kemble and i think there’s one at Finmere at some point too?
I have a feeling all of them are going to fill up very quickly!
Interesting that you use a Panda!. Is that a classic one, or a more recent Car?I have a feeling all of them are going to fill up very quickly!
There seems to a packed season of events this year, I just hope they can all be made to run. But I’m afraid I can’t see anything happening before April, despite the quick fill of entries for the Festival. Bearing in mind entries opened and it filled hours before the lockdown was announced!
I’ve got an entry in on the HERO challenge 1 in March, but again I don’t hold out much hope.

I’m currently using it for autosolos so looking to step up to some Targas this year if Boris allows!

Ah right, nice little cars the 100hp, though you may find some Targa's could be a bit rough, the lowered suspension might be a bit short of travel. Need to choose your events carefully.
Yeah absolutely right, I'm going to just focus on any single venue, tarmac based ones. I was Chief Marshall on the Hatsford Targa last year, that was an eye opener on how rough some could be!lb3nson said:

There were a few nasty ones to catch you out the first time round. Good event though.Hope to get an entry again if it runs this year.
Thread Revival!
First "road" rally involvement for some time, for me this weekend - the Saltire Classic Rally (Blair Atholl). It's a dual permit Historic Road Rally / Targa Road Rally with tests and regularities, taking place in some of the best scenery in the country.
I'm part of the results team, which means driving the route after the competitors, collecting check sheets and sending them to the results boss in HQ. Lucky we've got just the car for the job (it's had a suspension lift and better dampers since this photo).

Anyone else road / targa / navigation rallying soon?

I’d sort of given up trying with this forum......
Hope the Saltire goes well, I must find the time and funds to go and do that one again, it’s 12 years since I was Last up there.
Not been the best year for me,
So so results on the Devils Targa, A slightly better one on the De Lacy Targa at Catterick, Mainly because I actually understood where we were supposed to go, when most didn’t,.
Half decent result on the Tour of Cheshire, spoiled by a silly wrong test.
A promising run on the Dansport, spiked from the start by a broken trip meter.
A hugely enjoyable fling around Warcop on the second Devils Targa.
Then managed to retire from Rally of the Tests half way through the second day with a clutch problem, only to go down with Covid! Whilst catching up with it to collect my luggage and spectate.
My own Ilkley Jubilee Rally was plagued with bad luck when we had numerous issues thrown at us last minute and had to replan many times. It went well in the end though.
Not the best year Really, let’s hope 2022 will be better.
License renewal arrived today, I’ve gat a partly built car in the garage which should get finished..... full of optimism I am !

The Saltire Classic was really enjoyable, 38 starters and 37 finishers.
My ride for the day:

Having a break at Errochty Dam (just under 1000 ft above sea level)

One of the more spectacular competitors:

Autumn colours near Faskally:

A passage control location at Kinloch Rannoch:

In-car shot from second visit to Errochty Dam:

Targa rallying is back and booming, only been out once this year on a sort of targa and not in the proper right wheel drive car.
Done a load of clubbie autotests, in a road legal roller skate, driven to and from events, though not the brainache sort of autotest that requires a very specialist vehicle.
Bargain basement stuff for some skidding about for a morning or full day, £15/30.
Having said that its getting to the point where the teams younger driver can almost invariably beat the "success ballasted" older driver.
Need to get the right wheel drive car properly fixed some time, the bodges have got bodges now.
Most chitty chat related to cubbie stuff is on facebaulk now.
