LADIES MEET 10 JULY BACK ON !!!!!!!!!! YIPEEE
Discussion
Hi ladies, I will try and email each of you individually tonite but basically The restaurant are being bloody minded to say the least. I have just had a row with them as the say they want the EXACT number turning up. Once a figure is given, they say that any no shows will be charged to me as the person who booked it. I am sorry but anyone who goes to any meeting knows that there is likely to be people not able to make it on the day.
This originally started as an informal get together for a drink, a bite to eat, a chat and good parking.
We do this all the time in our area and all the places want is approximate numbers just to cover themselves.
This was the basis on which I booked it in the first place. Now just a few days before, they throw this little gem into the equation.
It isnt a bloody sit down meal fer chrissakes, its a BBQ.
I am really sorry, but if any of you know a pub with parking that would take us then please chip in.
I am dissappointed, angry and very upset to let you down.
Di
The more I think about this the angrier I am getting. I originally asked if they wanted money up front, but was told "no just the £100 deposit" which I gave them in good faith. I was told and my booking confirms that they were quite happy to cater for 20ish cars and therefore up to or around 40 people guessing that a lot of us would bring a friend or partner. I wonder if they have had a better offer, a "wedding party" or something!!!
Once again I am sorry.

Di,
Just done a quick search and found these people
www.oldmillhotel.com.
They're a Chef and Brewer so at least we'd know what we're getting, plus it's not too far from where we were going to meet.
I'm just on the phone to them now - adequate parking, just trying to work out whether they can feed us all.

I am happy to go with anything at the moment Penny.
My problem coming from Kent is that I just dont know any pubs/restaurants in the area. I for one would be more than happy with a beer and a sandwich. Its the company I was more interested in than the food.
Thanks for helping out

Would be a shame not to meet up seeing as there are quite a few of us up for it... the alternative sounds like it could be a goer??
Thanks for sticky Lisa, I just hope the girls see it.
Looks hopeful that Penny might have something going. We will have to see what feedback we get today. Fingers crossed.

I don't know any pubs in that area either Di, but am happy to take the flak if it turns out to be rubbish ! Like you say, if we get the chance to all meet each other and have a glass of pop then that'll be great.
So shall I call them and ask for space for 30ish then ?
Does anyone else have any ideas ?

Drive-thru ? Always quite amusing in a tiv.
after the experiences of peage toll booths in france macdonalds will be a doddle. I am up for anywhere you can arrange Penny, don't care about food just want to meet up with the girls! Thanks for doing this both of you, if you need ANY help gimme a yell.

It would be shame not to meet, I know all the ladies I spoke to yesterday were really looking forward to it, again I am not in the area so cannot actually check any places out.
If it wasnt Silverstone on that weekend I would suggest somewhere over this way a bit.
What everyone else said about it being more the company than the food is more important, its just finding somewhere that will cater for 30-40 people at such short notice.
But I'll go with majority with regards to place.

Di,
They've said that they could give us our own 'area' for eating. They do a carvery plus salds, steaks, etc.
Have you had any joy looking anywhere else ?
No idea what this pub is like, but it would be a shame to not meet up wouldn't it ?
Penny
That place looks lovely and its only 6 miles from the other one, its also easier for people to get to from the look of it. If this Chef and Brewer is as good as some of the others I have seen then we cant go wrong.
Spoken to the TVRCC RO for West Midlands whose region it is, and they use the Bulls Head at Meriden, which can accomodate 20 -50 Tivs at a time. A pub used to loads of TVR's in other words. Standard pub fare £10-£15 for a meal, the club members tend to get there before 12:30 to miss the rush, and this Sunday doesn't clash with their meet. It's 14 miles from the other venue, on the other side of Coventry. Fairly easy to find from M6 & M42 apparently. I'm happy to go wherever, but thought it worth picking local brains for alternatives.
