Decapitated by a Jet skier whilst swimming, I think about her every time I go jet skiing in Thailand always on the look out for people that stray out of the swimming zone. Tragic, hard to see a swimmer at 70mph on a 1200cc Jet ski with saltwater in your eyes.

Wasn't a jet ski and she died of chest injuries.

Was a speedboat and there's some debate about who was piloting it.

Her boyfriend (Who I knew from our music college days) was in the water at the time and saw all.

So sad.

I worked with her on French & Saunders for while. Even appeared briefly! (15'40" in - I'm the one with the hair!)

It wasn't a jetski, it was a speedboat, being driven recklessly in an area reserved for swimmers only, by a millionaire playboy who lied about who was driving it.

I used to listen to her best mate Annie Nightingale on Radio 2 in the wee small hours i'm sure she said jet ski anyway tragic and the playboy got away with it.

Her dad, Ewan McColl, was a great songwriter, he wrote 'Dirty Old Town' and 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face', amongst others.

I always think of her two boys who were with her, hope time has healed a bit. Such a loss.

At least one of them wouldn’t be alive if she hadn’t thrown them out of the way of the oncoming boat

New England was a Billy Bragg song that she covered.

But that aside, she did write some great stuff. My fave is They Don't Know About Us, which ironically was a big hit not for her, but for Tracey Ullman. Is the boyfriend wonderful, and all her family and friends are just jealous or have misjudged him, or is he a scumbag and she's the only one who can't see it?
